Medavera does not utilize AI to develop our content because of the risks associated with inaccuracies, bias, and incomplete information.

Due to these same issues, ACCME has produced guidance for the responsible use of AI in accredited programs. While the accreditor suggests certain uses of AI may be relevant for planning, evaluation, and organizational purposes, the message is clear that if AI is used to develop program content, the new guidance should be implemented and documented.

Join us at POCT University for our new accredited webinar, "Every Drop Counts: Preserving Blood in the NICU."

Anemia in premature infants is often the result of blood loss from laboratory testing. Blood test ordering volume has risen 5% annually in neonates in the past decade and nearly 80% of premature infants require a blood transfusion in their first month of life.

In this webinar, Eli Cahan, MD, MSc, Neonatology Fellow of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Clinical Researcher at the Stanford Center for Advanced Perinatal Education, and journalist at Rolling Stone, will discuss current issues with blood draws in the NICU and the movement towards neonatal blood preservation, including quality initiatives that may improve care. Bethany Lazzara, BNS, RNC-NIC, a Clinical Shift Coordinator in the NICU at Northwestern Medicine Healthcare Central DuPage Hospital will present a case of a micro-preemie in the NICU and methods of volume preservation for blood gas measurements.

This webinar is accredited for physicians, nurses, laboratory professionals, and respiratory therapists.

New publication alert! A new paper has been published on the performance of the FDA-approved Lumipulse G pTau 217/β-Amyloid (Aβ) 1-42 plasma ratio test. The data show the test's efficacy in differentiating amyloid-positive and amyloid-negative pathology in a selection of patients across the cognitive impairment spectrum. OMG interviewed one of the authors of the paper, Dr. Francesca De Simone, along with Alzheimer's specialist Dr. Douglas Galasko on the benefits of plasma testing in patients with cognitive impairment.
