Eugene Police Department Releases Locations of Automated License Plate Reader Cameras

On October 14 use of the recently installed Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras was paused at the recommendation of the Eugene City Council, pending further discussion and review. Since that development, there has continued to be public attention surrounding ALPR deployment, including camera locations.

In addition, another local jurisdiction has disclosed the locations of their ALPR cameras. With the cameras no longer active the Eugene Police Department has determined that, on balance, withholding their locations is no longer necessary to prevent potential criminal mischief nor to avoid aiding suspects by evading detection. In response to these developments, and in alignment with practices adopted by other law enforcement agencies, EPD is opting to publish a map of the ALPR camera locations in the city of Eugene. Since the initial installation of the ALPR system, and prior to its deactivation, six cameras were replaced due to damage caused by intentional criminal mischief.

Funding will be provided to Food for Lane County to help support efforts to feed our community while SNAP benefits remain unavailable. Funding will also be provided to support families in our immigrant and refugee communities in partnership with local non-profits.

Recent incidents in our communities have created distress and uncertainty for people who live and work in Lane County.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐫 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚́ 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚́𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐮𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐚́𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬.

Just to remind everyone!

It is extremely important if you think you see ICE to take a picture or a short video! We receive lots of tips throughout the week with a majority coming without pictures so end up not knowing what to look for other than “person in a government vehicle that looked like it could be ICE”. We can’t have people verify any of that especially if time has passed as they will most likely not be in the same location by the time anyone can get there to check. Please keep this in mind!

We protect us ✊🏾🖤✌🏾
