⚠️ Did you know?

Health experts often say “Sitting is the new smoking.”

Why?

Because long periods of sitting are linked to:
• Increased back and neck pain
• Weaker muscles
• Poor posture
• Reduced mobility

Many people sit 6–10 hours a day between work, driving, and relaxing at home.

That’s why movement throughout the day is so important.

Physical therapy helps people restore mobility, strengthen their bodies, and prevent long-term pain caused by inactivity.

Your body was designed to move.

Help your therapist help you 😊

Patient: “My knee still hurts.”
Therapist: “Have you been doing your home exercises?”
Patient: “…No.”

Your home exercise program isn’t just “extra homework.” It’s a key part of your recovery.

Those exercises help build strength, improve mobility, and support the work being done during your therapy sessions.

Even a few minutes each day can make a big difference in your progress.

Stay consistent and your body will thank you!

In Louisiana, chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity are among the leading causes of preventable premature death.

Many adults in our state are also living with multiple chronic conditions and arthritis and joint pain are especially common across the Southeast.

What does that mean?

• More daily pain
• Less mobility
• Decreased strength
• Higher fall risk

But here’s the good news:
Movement is medicine.

And physical therapy plays a key role in making movement safe and effective.

Through individualized treatment plans, strength training, balance work, and pain-management strategies, physical therapy helps:
✔ Reduce joint pain
✔ Improve mobility
✔ Increase strength
✔ Support long-term management of chronic conditions

You don’t have to “just live with it.”

“From Wheelchair to Walking, traveling, & getting my life back. I could not have done it without this amazing team. They didn’t just check boxes and give me a list of exercises. They cared - they paid attention. They treated every little thing I explained to them. Thank You Aim for going above & beyond to help restore my quality of life after my accident!”

Falls are one of the leading causes of injury especially as we age.

A simple trip or loss of balance can lead to serious injuries like:
• Hip fractures
• Wrist and arm fractures
• Head injuries
• Back injuries
• Sprains and torn ligaments

And sometimes… it’s not just the injury itself. A fall can create fear of moving again, which leads to less activity, more weakness, and an even higher risk of falling.

But here’s the good news many falls are preventable.

At AIM Physical Therapy, we focus on:
✔️ Improving balance
✔️ Strengthening lower body muscles
✔️ Gait training (how you walk)
✔️ Identifying mobility limitations
✔️ Teaching safe movement strategies

Prevention is always better than recovery.

If you or a loved one feels unsteady, dizzy, or nervous about falling, don’t wait until an injury happens. Let’s work on stability and confidence now.

🚨 MYTH: “No pain, no gain.” 🚨

Let’s clear this one up. In physical therapy, pain is NOT the goal.

Some muscle soreness or tightness after exercise can be completely normal. It often means your body is adapting and getting stronger. But sharp, sudden, or increasing pain is different that’s your body’s way of saying something needs to change.

That’s why communication with your therapist is so important. If an exercise causes pain, speak up! There is almost always a way to modify movements so you can continue progressing safely without making things worse.

At AIM, we don’t push through pain we work with your body to help you heal, move better, and get stronger the right way.

Happy Monday💚💙

At AIM, therapy isn’t just about what happens during your appointment it’s about improving the movements you rely on every day.

Because progress looks like:
- Getting in and out of your chair with confidence.
- Reaching into cabinets without pain or hesitation.
- Walking through the store without needing to stop and rest.
- Bending down to pick something up safely and comfortably.

These everyday moments are what truly matter. Our goal is to help you move through your daily life with greater strength, less pain, and more independence.

Valentine’s Day is about showing love…
But when was the last time you showed love to your own body?

💗 Loving your body means:

• Moving even when you don’t feel like it
• Choosing strength over excuses
• Investing in your health

Love yourself so you can continue to love others. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
