Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible women who help keep our community safe every single day.❤️🚑

At the Springfield First Aid Squad, we are proud of the strong, compassionate, and dedicated women who serve as EMTs, cadets, officers, and volunteers. Their commitment to helping others, responding when our community needs it most, and supporting one another truly represents the heart of EMS.

Today, members of our Recruitment & Retention Committee, Samantha Yusupov & Rachel Valle (Jonathan Dayton alumni 2017 & 2018🎓), had the opportunity to attend the Jonathan Dayton High School Career Fair hosted by the JDHS Peer Leaders!

We loved connecting with students, sharing what EMS is all about, and seeing so much excitement about joining the EMS family. 🚑💙 Thank you peer leaders for the invite!

Our HEARTfelt thanks to The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey for the generous grant covering 90% of the cost of a LUCAS 3 automatic chest compression system. Now both of our frontline ambulances will have this invaluable device in a time when our costs keep going up but donations remain unchanged.

While mechanical compressions have been shown to be no more (or less) effective than human compressions, automatic systems do provide the cardiac arrest patient to consistent compressions even when circumstances are not ideal, and keep our EMTs safer while they focus on the things that humans do better.

Last week, EMT Srikar Nagabhushan represented the Springfield First Aid Squad at the MedicZero EMS Recruitment Fair at Rutgers University. We connected with so many great students and are excited about the potential new members we met!

Srikar is a MedicZero member and a Rutgers student studying Biological Science & Public Health.

He is also the 2026 SFAS Recording Secretary and an active member of our Recruitment & Retention Committee.

Thank you, Srikar, for helping grow our EMS community!
