Understanding the Dry Eye Cycle
• Dry eye is often a vicious cycle: one issue creates another.
• Example: Bacteria on the lid can cause inflammation. Inflammation degrades oil glands, leading to less oil and greater evaporation, which causes more inflammation.
At Vision Concepts, we must treat all outstanding issues at once. Otherwise, it's just a Band-Aid that won't work.
The good news is that we follow up closely: if a category is better, we back off; if it needs more treatment, we go to the next level of aggression.

Are You Overusing Artificial Tears?
When you first feel dryness, it’s natural to reach for artificial tears. But relying on them too much is essentially allowing the problem to get worse.
Here are two rules of thumb regarding tears:
1. If you need to use tears more than 4 times per day, they must be preservative-free.
2. If you are using them more than 4 times a day or multiple days a week, you have a problem.
