David Walter Dale

Dr. David Walter Dale passed away in his sleep on January 23, 2026, at his home in Springfield, Missouri. David attended the Newtown school system before graduating from Unionville High School. He went on to graduate from Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College in Lexington, Missouri, the University of Missouri in Columbia, and the Kansas City School of Medicine and Surgery.

He was a skilled medical professional and served patients as Chief of the ER in Miami, Florida and then Houston, Missouri before starting his private practices in Houston and Eminence where he provided care to thousands of local residents over his 30 years as a general practitioner. He often donated time, money, and medicine to provide care to those who were less fortunate, also working with nonprofits to provide care for those in addiction recovery.

David was a lively story and joke teller, usually marked with a mischievous grin. He loved sports cars, airplanes, and motorcycles and toured the country with friends and family. From flying alone to the World's Fair with his teenage brothers to touring the North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains on motorcyle with his daughter, he loved a wild adventure and to feel the wind at his back.

He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Gilbert Dale, his mother Gwen Page Dale, and his brother Gilbert Dale Jr. M.D. He is survived by his daughter Allyson Page Dale and his brother Richard Page Dale of Fort Worth, Texas. David had a great love for the outdoors and animals, particularly horses and mules.

David was a devout Christian and follower of Jesus Christ and loved his family and friends very much, always jumping on a opportunity to share how proud he was of his daughter. The space he has left behind can never be filled. We will carry him with us always.

A service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri with burial to follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

Mary Jean Christ

Mary Jean was born on February 23, 1935 in Wood River, NE to Eugene and Evelyn Leonard. After graduating high school, she earned an Associate Degree in Fine Arts from the College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Education from Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota. Following graduation, she accepted a job as the music teacher in Lakota, IA. She taught all grades and took several vocal groups to state chorale competitions. It was in Lakota where she met the love of her life, Don Christ. They were married on June 24, 1959. Don and Mary Jean had three children, Kevin, Sylvia, and Carmen.

In 1965, the family moved to Branson, Mo and opened the Dairy Sweet Drive-In. Mary Jean maintained her love of music by directing the choir at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and singing for weddings and special events. She also gave piano and organ lessons in their home. Mary Jean was often asked to sing at events in Branson, such as the Annual Adoration lighting and parade and the Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. In the mid 70’s they sold the Dairy Sweet. A few years later Don and Mary Jean began another successful business, Handy Craft Enterprises, selling wholesale wood craft items across the United States.

Early in the 1990’s they sold their business and bought a small farm outside Brighton, MO. Sadly, Don passed away in 1999 so Mary Jean moved to Springfield, MO to be closer to her family. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital on the Transitional Care Unit where she visited patients and sang songs to lift their spirits. Mary Jean donated more than 14,000 hours to Mercy Hospital! She also volunteered at Mercy Villa Nursing Home, where she visited residents and sang to them, as well. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish singing in the choir for many years and a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She also followed in her father’s footsteps as a poll worker for Greene County elections for many years. Mary Jean had a warm and generous personality and always greeted everyone with a smile and kind word! She was well known for her love of music and singing by all who knew her.

Mary Jean passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026. She was proceeded in death by her parents Eugene and Evelyn Leonard, brother Larry Leonard, and husband Don Christ. Mary Jean is survived by her 3 children and their spouses: Kevin and Jean Christ, Sylvia and Ed Barber, Carmen and Mike Whorton; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon Monday February 2, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church immediately followed by a funeral mass at 1 pm with Fr. Nick Zummo celebrant. The burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery under the care and direction of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

Darlene Halvorson Palm

Darlene Halvorson was born in Northwood, North Dakota, on April 23rd, 1939. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Henry and Corella Halvorson, her kind and generous brother Ardell Halvorson, and faithful and loving husband Francis Allen Palm. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Melody Darlene Palm of Springfield, Missouri, and Valerie Ames Damron and Vance Allen Palm of Bakersfield, California. Other surviving family include her son-in-law Paul Damron, daughter-in-law Carla Palm and grandchildren: Maria, Sophia, Ava, Trinidad and Noah Palm, Crosby Damron, Cooper and Cailey Damron and great-granddaughter Penelope.

Darlene married Allen Palm on August 8th, 1959, at Calvary Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota and began a wonderful life together. They were married almost 59 years before his death in 2018. Shortly after their marriage, they relocated to Florida where Al began flight training to become a pilot for the United States Air Force. For the next thirteen years they traveled the world together: living in Florida, Texas, California, the Philippines, and Germany.

Darlene loved being an officer’s wife and thrived in her travels and new experiences. In 1973 Al left the military to become a pastor and Darlene gracefully transitioned to the role of being a pastor’s wife, which she held and cherished for thirty years. She excelled as a homemaker who was known for her unreasonable hospitality. Darlene served as the women’s ministry leader at Arvin Assembly of God Church and as a sectional leader for the Southern San Joaquin Section and was one of the top fund raisers in Southern California for women’s ministry projects around the world.

In 2004 Al and Darlene relocated to Springfield, Missouri to enjoy a well-earned retirement, the beauty of the Ozarks and a new home. This season of her life was full of travel, friendships and working part-time at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. She left a lasting impression with her beautiful handwritten notes to donors and past students. She boated on Table Rock Lake, cooked for everyone, adventured in her RV, dreamt of a yellow Corvette, sang out of tune to George Strait, giggled endlessly, and reveled in southern Gospel concerts in Branson.

In 2019, Darlene returned to Bakersfield to live closer to family, where she attended church, spent time with loved ones, played countless rounds of Scrabble, and cherished every day until her peaceful death on January 22nd, 2026. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and leaves a legacy of love, laughter, kindness, hospitality, faith in Jesus, and service to others.

May she enjoy the fruits of her labor as she hears “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”

A celebration of life service will be held on February 28th at 1:00 PM in the small chapel at First Assembly of God , 4901 California Ave, Bakersfield, California.

The family of Darlene Palm would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Magnolia Assisted Living and Hoffmann Hospice of Bakersfield for their compassionate care during her final days. In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to Hoffman Hospice in Bakersfield, California in loving memory of Darlene Palm.

Fonda Lynne Crawford

Mom’s Glorious Passing to Heaven

January 24, 2026

Fonda Lynne Crawford (Kinser) of Springfield, age 77, stepped peacefully into the glory of heaven on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Mercy Hospital. Born on July 25, 1948, to Everett Leon and Sammie Lee Kinser (Williams). Fonda grew into a woman whose life was marked by kindness, faith, and a genuine love for others.

A proud graduate of Central High School’s Class of 1966, Fonda later spent nearly 13 years serving the Clever School District. She worked wherever she was needed, but her heart was especially drawn to the art classrooms. There, she poured encouragement, joy, and the love of Jesus into countless students and staff. Her compassion was unmistakable—steady, sincere, and freely given. Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ was not just something she did; it was who she was.

Fonda loved deeply and without condition. Her daughter, Carnetta, and son-in-law, Curtis, were her greatest earthly treasures. She shared a rare and beautiful bond with them, often expressing how grateful she was for their devotion and the life they helped her enjoy. She often expressed Curtis was one of Carnetta’s greatest gifts, and the best son-in-law a mom could have ever asked for.

For more than 30 years, Fonda was a faithful member of Solid Rock Church. A gifted pianist, she played with unwavering dedication—every service, every season, no matter how she felt. She often said she would play until she simply couldn’t anymore, and she kept that promise. Some of her sweetest memories were made at the piano, singing and worshiping alongside her best friend and sister in Christ, Betty Maggard (“Aunt Betty”). Together, they spent many joyful years ministering in churches and gatherings throughout the area.

Fonda cherished time with her sister Cathy and husband David Horsey, sharing adventures, laughter, and the kind of companionship only siblings can know. She also treasured her yearly outings with her dear friend Stephanie Brown. Yet she equally valued the quiet moments at home—her sanctuary—where she found peace in solitude and simple joys like working puzzles.

One of her proudest blessings was watching her daughter become part of Ashley Ministries Praise and Worship. Fonda loved traveling with the ministry and was affectionately named their honorary Road Manager, a title she carried with delight.

Fonda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Prince Albert and Ollie Kinser; her parents, Everett Leon and Sammie Lee Kinser; and her husband, Lonnie Crawford.

She is survived by her daughter, Carnetta Crawford, and husband Curtis; her sister Cathy Horsey and husband David; her brother Kevin Kinser and wife Kim; nephews Michael Horsey (Deanna), Todd Horsey (Sherry), David Horsey (Susan), and Kelia White (Dean); greatnephews and niece Andrew (Rachel), David III, Josh, Cooper, Amanda (Samir), Addison; and greatgreat niece Evelyn. She also leaves behind many cousins, friends, and extended family who loved her dearly.

Fonda’s life was richly blessed by the people who surrounded her. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Solid Rock Church, Andrea Crawford, Sam and Lydia Ashley (and their children), Francis Carlock, Daniel and Kim Woodall, Pauline Ownby, Dana Gray, Gary Augustus, Jason and Catrina Horned, Kristen Briglia, Emory and Tina Shoemaker, Denise Evans, Lisa Summers, Donna Hicks, and Sye Engelke. Each of you touched her life in meaningful ways.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri. A service will be held after visitation at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Fordland Cemetery in Fordland, Missouri.

Kenna Jeanne Stone

It is with profound sadness, we announce that Kenna Jeanne Stone, 81, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2026.

Born February 14, 1944, in Herington, Kansas, she was the daughter of late Robert Eugene Brown and Margery Louise Brown.

Kenna is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Frank Vernon Stone; daughter, Deborah Hightower and husband Charles of Springfield, MO and her two sons; Scott Stone and wife, Shelly of Harrison, AR, and Michael Stone and wife Alison of Springfield, MO.

She was a proud “Nana” to four beautiful grandchildren: McKenna Mulhall(Zachary), Casen Hightower(Allie), Jonathan Stone, and Nicholas Stone. She was also the dear great grandmother of Hadley Hightower. She cherished each of them deeply and was filled with happiness in the times they shared together.

Kenna attended Baker College in Baldwin City, Kansas before becoming a secretary for Panhandle in Kansas City. She was introduced to Frank and they married on February 21, 1966 after only knowing each other for 2 months. Kenna enjoyed being a homemaker for many years while raising her children and moving to many places with Frank’s job.

Kenna loved gardening and cooking. She would spend hours tending to her flowers or finding a new recipe to try out. She also loved other arts like painting, crafting, and decorating. She made a beautiful home for the family wherever they lived.

While living in Georgia, she went to cosmetology school to earn her manicurist license and eventually opened Heads or Nails Salon with some friends after moving to Lebanon, Missouri. Later she had her own salon in a little cottage in her backyard. When Kenna and Frank moved to Kansas City, she ended her working career at the Disney catalog, which she cherished for the adventures it brought her and her grandchildren.

Some of her fondest memories were those spent with her husband, children, and closest friends. Whether that was playing video poker with her bestie, a girl’s trip to New York or Florida, the solace she found in fishing or gardening, or the many family summer trips to Ft. Walton Beach, FL where she dug her toes in the sand, enjoyed a good book, sunsets, and the laughter with family and friends around for a shrimp boil. They all held a special place in her heart.

Throughout Kenna’s life she was the one to light up the room, spreading joy to all those around her. She was the reason for the smile on your face and the love you feel in your heart. Her memory will live on through sunsets, flowers that bloom in the spring, and the flutter of a dragonfly’s wings.

Visitation will be at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield on Saturday, January 31 from 11:00-1:00 with a memorial service at 1:00 PM.

James Donald Scott

James Donald Scott, 90, of Springfield, passed away at 8:00 am on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

Jim was born on December 30, 1935, in Sparta, Missouri to Jack and Belle (Snider) Scott. He graduated from Miller, MO High School. Jim married Patricia Jeanne Clawson on March 3, 1961. To this marriage, two sons, Dan and Sam, were born.

After high school, Jim served his country by joining the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. After his marriage, he began a long career at Dayco as a technician. He was able to travel and enjoyed having access to pit row at both NASCAR and Indy Car events. Jim was a very hard worker. He would come home on workdays, eat dinner, and head out to work in the garden or tinker in the garage on old tractors or his beloved Studebakers until bedtime. He took DIY to a whole new level, building a homemade lawnmower, BBQ grill, air compressor, and camper jacks. If he needed something, he would design and build it. He dearly loved his family and took delight in attending all the grandkids’ and great grandkids’ events that he could. While we miss him dearly, the family takes great comfort in knowing that his Parkinsons and frail body are no more.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Belle Scott, his wife, Pat, who passed in 2024 after 63 years of marriage, and a brother, Dale Scott. He is survived by his children Daniel (Brooke) Scott, Samuel (Angela) Scott; grandchildren Nicole (Brandon) Newingham, Andrew (Ivy) Scott, Benjamin (Brandy) Scott, Alexander (Victoria) Scott; great grandchildren Taylor Newingham, Hayden Newingham, Haylee Newingham, Greyson Newingham, Kaydence Scott, and Kenasynn Scott. He is also survived by a brother, John Scott, of Montana, a sister, Carol Holmes (Carl), of Tennessee, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A private family memorial service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
