Stephen Geoffrey Richardson — April 26, 1952 to January 3, 2026

Stephen Geoffrey Richardson, age 73, died January 3rd, from complications of a brain aneurysm suffered after a workout March 2017 at the University of Southern California (USC).

Fans of local music will recognize and remember Stevie as a member of numerous popular bands, most notably his legendary glam-rock band in the mid-70's, The Queen City Punks. He was a graduate of Glendale High School, class of '70, and attended Southwest Missouri State University.

Stephen lost the older brother he idolized in a climbing incident March of 1971 when Richie fell from a cliff. The rest of Stephen's immediate family: father Leonard, mother Elizabeth (Tiz), and both younger sisters, Lisa and Rebekah drowned in the Big Thompson River flood in 1976 while on vacation camping in Estes Park, CO. The catastrophe left Stephen his family's sole survivor.

Stephen moved to London with his band, spending time there and in New York, before settling in Los Angeles and forming his last group, The Sights. With airplay on the premier rock radio station, KROQ, The Sights gained recognition for two of Stephen's songs, "So Much for Everlasting Love" and "Virginia." The band was signed to Gold Mountain Records, but failed to break out into other regions.

After his stab at the music business did not yield the success he was after, Stephen, a lifelong learner, turned to the field of Education. He attended film school at UCLA, before studying abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris, where he studied literature and earned a graduate degree.

Returning to California in 1999, Stephen taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Fluent in Spanish and French, he especially enjoyed teaching elementary-aged children for whom English was a second language.

Stephen was an award-winning short story writer, and was working on a novel and a screenplay when the aneurysm left him disabled. He will be remembered for his talent, his creativity, and the humor he maintained in spite of tremendous tragedy, grief, and adversity.

For the last six years, Stephen was in the care of Spring Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, MO. Stephen's friends would like to express limitless gratitude to everyone there who cared for him: Bernie, Sandy, Kathleen, Hannah, and many others. You are angels.

Shirley Evelyn Baum

Shirley Evelyn Baum of Ozark, Missouri passed away on December 27th, 2025.

Shirley was born May 18th, 1936 in Hartshorn, Missouri to George and Letha Norris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, her daughter Rebecca, and her siblings, Lois Akins, and Doug Norris.

She is survived by her children, Mary and her husband Jim Jackson (Springfield, Missouri), Patricia and her husband Mike Whisler (Willard, Missouri), Ann Vunovic (Springfield, Missouri), Matthew Baum and his wife Terra (Springfield, Missouri). She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Lindsey Payne, Jason Whisler, Bryan Whisler, Brianne Duvall, Jordan Jackson, Hope Williams and Spenser Williams. She was further blessed with nine great grandchildren, Brooklynn Schweighauser, Emmitt, Ila, and Millie Whisler, Sloane and Collins Whisler, Paisley and Delaney Jackson, and Theodore Dalton.

She was a devout Catholic her whole life and served for 37 years at St. Joseph’s Church (Springfield, Missouri). Due to her dedication to her faith, and church family, she humbly served in many church activities, such as Lector, Eucharistic minister, and RCIA. Her proudest achievement in her service was creating the church’s food pantry with Harold and Becky. This was a passion project of theirs which began in the late 80’s serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to a handful of families, and with their leadership has grown to a thriving food service pantry providing meals for over 200 families per week.

Her first love outside of her faith was her family. She was madly in love with Harold and remained true to him to her last. After his passing, she would often share the story of how she fell in love with him on that first hay ride they took, so many years ago. Together, they built a strong family, through thick and thin, and above all she cherished spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong caregiver to her daughter Becky and she raised all her children as a full-time parent. She loved to sew and quilt and made many heirlooms for her family to treasure. Shirley enjoyed staying in to watch her favorite scary movies with her pup, Austin, and cat, Stella nearby. She would often be found spending time with friends at the Ozark Senior Center, Sands Café and Rosie Jo’s, and was known to hop aboard the bus to Downstream for some serious slot machine gaming.

Her children will remember her as a devoted mother who had a knack with down-home sayings and turning a phrase. On an unrelated note, if anyone reading this has any idea what “cat fur to make a pair of kitten britches” means, please contact us. We’ve been trying to figure that one out for 50+ years.

Shirley was the heart of the family and provided a love-filled and warm home in which we all flourished. Her kindness and loving nature will be sorely missed by all who knew her, family and friends alike.

The family would like to extend special thanks and recognize Cindy and Susan with Integrity Home Health for the devotion and care they provided, which allowed Shirley to enjoy her final years in the comfort of her home.

Visitation will be held from 5-6 pm Friday, January 9, 2026 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, in Springfield, Missouri.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 10, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1115 N. Campbell in Springfield Missouri with Father Pompeyo Tann, OSB celebrating. Immediately following the service, lunch will be served next door. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Ozark’s Food Harvest in memory of Shirley Baum. All donations made in her name will be directed to the St. Joseph Food Pantry she loved.

Ronald L. Hamblett

Ronald Lynn Hamblett was born to Mary (Piccola) and Jack A Hamblett, Sr. in Dallas, TX on Thursday, February 17, 1944. He left this world peacefully at 81 years old on Friday, December 26, 2025 in Springfield, MO. In his final days he was surrounded by his loving family. Those days were filled with memories, hugs and laughter as only the Hamblett family can. He had no doubt that he was loved and blessed. He hated to leave us, but knew he was leaving a legacy of love and strength behind in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All he asked of us was to live our lives to the fullest, be our best selves and continue to make him proud.

Ron faced each day grateful and determined to make it the best day possible and tried to live his life the same way. He grew up in Dallas working with his father, mother and brothers in their grocery business. He proudly joined the Air Force in 1961 at 17 and was given an honorable discharge after being injured in a training exercise. He was always proud of his service and wished he could have served longer.

In 1975 Ron met Sharon and they married a few months later. They had been married a little over 50 years at the time of his passing. In 1976 he moved with Sharon and his older children and their 9 month old daughter to his family's dairy farm in Rogers, AR, then 3 years later to a larger dairy farm in McDowell, MO. In 1994, after nearly 18 years of dairying and the birth of their second daughter in 1993, they left the farm moving to Springfield, MO. where Ron excelled in automotive sales and then finance with several of the major car dealerships there. By 1995 Ron had moved strictly into auto finance and they had been blessed with another daughter. Ron stayed in finance until his retirement. After retiring, Ron's days were filled with family, motorcycle rides with his wife and sons and playing one pocket, what he called, "The chess game of pool."

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Jack A Hamblett, his mother, Mary, infant sister, Pamela, infant son Aaron, brother in law Gene and older brother, Jack ll.

He leaves behind his wife Sharon, sister Jeanine, brother Gary (Kathy), sister in law Jeanne and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Children and spouses; David and Shannon, Alex and Renee, Alysia and Jeremy, Todd and Malisa, Aislyn and Silas, and Aryana and Matthew.

Grandchildren and spouses; Candace and Lester, Samantha and Mickey, and Jacob and Courtnee.

Grandchildren; Chris, Jessica, Megan, Ava, Ellanor, and Holden.

Great grandchildren; Kaylee, Madyson, Jack, Sophie, Mickey, Bentley, Dylan, and Brookelyn.

Extended family; Charlotte, Sheri, Judy, Dave, and Gwen.

And last of all, his beloved chihuahua, Livvy, whom he rescued while on a motorcycle ride to get tacos.

Ron will be remembered most for his huge heart, his love for his family and for his wonderful, loud, knee slapping laugh!

Rest in peace my love. We will see each other again.
