This week, we are celebrating the incredible front line of our hospital — our Client Service Representatives.

They are the first voice you hear when you call and the first face you see when you walk through our doors. In the middle of emergencies, emotional moments, and long nights, they remain calm, compassionate, and ready to help.

Our receptionists juggle phones ringing nonstop, coordinate incoming emergencies, support our medical team, and most importantly — care for the people who love their pets. Their ability to be both organized and empathetic in high-stress situations is something truly special.

Thank you for your patience, your kindness, your strength, and your dedication. We are so grateful for everything you do to keep AEC running and to support our clients and patients every single day.

From our Client Service Representatives and Veterinary Assistants to our Technicians, Kennel Staff, Managers, and Doctors — every single person plays a vital role in caring for pets and supporting the people who love them.

Because of this incredible team, our doors stay open 24/7 — days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Emergency medicine isn’t easy, but this group shows up every shift with compassion, skill, teamwork, and heart.

We are so proud of the dedication, resilience, and kindness that lives within these walls.

❄️ We’re OPEN Today — Even in the Winter Weather! ❄️

Despite the snow and potential for below-zero wind chills, Animal Emergency Clinic is open and here for your pets 24/7. If your pet needs urgent care, please travel safely and don’t hesitate to call us.

🐾 Winter Safety Tips for Pets 🐾
Cold weather can be dangerous — especially during extreme wind chills. Keep your pets safe with these reminders:

• Limit time outdoors — short potty breaks only in extreme cold
• Wipe paws after walks to remove ice, snow, and salt
• Watch for frostbite & hypothermia (shivering, lethargy, pale or cold skin)
• Keep pets indoors — even hardy breeds are at risk in sub-zero temps
• Check antifreeze spills — it’s highly toxic but smells/tastes sweet
• Provide warm bedding and keep pets away from drafts
• Never leave pets in vehicles during freezing temperatures

If you’re concerned about your pet or notice any signs of cold-related illness, we’re here to help — day or night.

🌟 Gratitude Series: Katie 🌟
Our final highlight (for real this time!) goes to Katie. She joined AEC right after graduating high school, and from day one her kindness and dedication were impossible to miss. Though she has since gone on to care for human babies as an RN, her heart has always belonged to the kittens — and we love that about her.
We are so grateful that she still chooses to spend a few shifts a month with us. Whether she’s cuddling a tiny neonate, jumping in to help the team, or sharing her calm, gentle presence, Katie brings a special kind of warmth to every shift she works.
Thank you, Katie, for your compassion, your loyalty, and your love for the littlest patients. We’re so lucky you continue to call AEC home. 💙🐾✨

To wrap up our Gratitude Series, we are proud to recognize Kaylee! 💙🐾

Kaylee is a busy second-year veterinary student at the University of Illinois, and we are so grateful she still chooses to spend her weekends with us when she isn’t buried in books or labs. She joined us last summer, and her passion for learning — combined with her compassion for every patient — has made her a wonderful part of our team.

The hands-on experience she’s gaining here will no doubt serve her well in her future career as a veterinarian, and we can’t wait to cheer her on every step of the way. She has a bright future ahead, and we’re so lucky to be a small part of her journey!
