This past March, our Labor and Delivery unit at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend delivered and welcomed 208 babies, including 7 sets of twins!

Recently, our caregivers and community partners in Eugene-Springfield came together to host a Teen Heart Screening and Health Expo at North Eugene High School.

Nearly 100 students received free heart screenings—many for the first time—with several identified for follow-up care, including a small number referred for further cardiac evaluation. Hundreds more took part in hands-on learning around topics that support long-term health and safety, from sleep and nutrition to CPR, AED use and more.

Construction is underway on our new PeaceHealth Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield, Oregon, which will expand our communities’ access to care so patients and families can recover closer to home.

This 67,000-square-foot facility, set to open in August 2026, will open with 42 beds, growing to 60 in the future, and will feature Oregon’s first dedicated brain injury unit. It will also provide specialized therapy spaces for patients recovering from stroke, neurological conditions, and serious injuries.

Recently HEARTsafe Eugene Springfield, a partner organization of Eugene Springfield Fire and PeaceHealth, celebrated our area’s newest HEARTsafe campus, McKenzie River Community School!

“A HEARTsafe campus is an opportunity to save lives. It is that simple,” said Chest Pain Program Medical Director Dr. Sudeshna Banerjee. “By taking this step, and investing in plans and drills, people we know and value will have access to lifesaving opportunities. These are the moments that bring me hope and joy: taking care of each other is the best gift of all.”
