Today we worked into the intercostal muscles, the muscles that run between the ribs and play a major role in breathing, trunk rotation, and upper-body movement.
When these muscles are tight or restricted, it can lead to:
• Shallow breathing
• Rib and mid-back pain
• Limited shoulder and thoracic mobility
• Compensations in the neck, low back, and shoulders
By releasing and mobilizing the intercostals, we help:
• Improve breathing capacity and rib expansion
• Reduce tension through the upper body
• Increase thoracic rotation and flexibility
• Support better shoulder and core function
This work is especially beneficial for athletes, lifters, and anyone with a history of repetitive upper-body use or restricted breathing patterns.
Better rib movement = better movement everywhere
