STOP SCRAPING SO HARD.
More pressure doesn’t mean better results.
Scraping (IASTM / Gua Sha) is meant to:
• Increase circulation
• Break down minor adhesions
• Help the tissue MOVE + HEAL
Not to bruise, cause swelling, create lumps, or leave someone limping.
When scraping is done too hard:
❌ It can cause tissue trauma
❌ Create inflammation instead of relieving it
❌ Lead to scar tissue forming in the wrong direction
❌ Cause pain that wasn’t even there before
The goal is healing, not damage.
Good recovery work should feel like progress, not punishment.
We scrape with purpose, precision, and control.
Because when you understand how the fascia responds…
You don’t need to force it.
Your body isn’t something to “beat into submission.”
It’s something to work with.
Recovery is a science.
Your tissue deserves respect.
Writing this post because multiple people have come to me with injuries from either a chiropractor or a physical therapist or a trainer that has gone way too hard with scraping and as completely bruised, the client made them in-mobile, or has caused injury. Scraping is for fascia release. Not grinding down to the Muscle. It’s to make it easier for you to manipulate the muscle. 🙄
