💜The BHN HEART Peer Recognition Awards celebrate staff who bring our values—Humanity, Empowerment, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork—to life every day.

Meet Rose Ramos, an Administrative Assistant for BHN’s ACCS program in Westfield and a recipient of the HEART Empowerment Award. Rose embodies empowerment through patience, kindness, and compassion, supporting both her colleagues and the people we serve.

Rose was nominated for helping a new employee feel confident during orientation and creating a space where others feel safe, comfortable, and supported. Rose consistently shows what it means to work with others.

“I understand how transformative it is to be in an environment where empowering is not just a value on paper, but practiced in the hallways, orientations, and in the everyday moments that most people never notice but the people receiving them never forget”.

💚Thank you, Rose, for your contributions to BHN and the community we serve.

Behavioral health needs are growing — and community‑centered care matters.

“Meeting families where they are, with the right level of support at the right time, is essential,” says Michelle Michaelian, Senior Vice President of Child & Family Community‑Based Programs. “That’s how we build stronger, healthier communities.”

Staff at BHN’s Holyoke Opioid Treatment Program recently celebrated Sandy Ortega’s retirement after more than 30 years of service as a clinician. Sandy’s compassion, consistency, and unique way of connecting with people have made a lasting impact on both the individuals we serve and the colleagues who worked alongside her.

“As a clinician, I have been entrusted with something sacred: the confidence and vulnerability of others. To guide, support, and encourage people as they work to change and better their lives is an honor I have never taken lightly. In helping others grow, I too have grown. In witnessing their resilience, I have strengthened my own.”

As she looks ahead, Sandy does so with gratitude, pride, and hope—excited for what’s next and committed, as always, to creating positive change.

Congratulations, Sandy, on a well‑earned retirement. Thank you for everything you’ve given to the Holyoke OTP team and the community we serve!

Leadership matters. When leaders feel supported, it shows—in our teams, our work, and the care we provide.

Over the past six months, BHN invested in nearly 400 leaders through our Foundations of Leadership program, strengthening skills, connection, and growth across the organization.

Thank you to the teams who made this possible—and to our BHN leaders who show up and do the hard work every day!
