At the heart of our nursing home is a team that brings joy, purpose and connection to every day - our Therapeutic Recreation (Activities) staff 💗 They do much more than plan games and events. They create moments of laughter, encourage independence, spark memories, and support residents’ emotional, social, spiritual and cognitive well being! 🌟

Thank You to our Activities team for your creativity, passion, compassion and dedication! 💐

Last week we superpowered through Activities Professionals Week! The theme: Beyond the Ordinary, everyday superheroes! 🚨

They had a color for each day, missions to solve and the most fun activities planned by ofcourse them! 🦸‍♀️

We unfortunately didn’t get enough pictures as we celebrated 🎉 but snapped a few along the way of some staff who participated in the fun week we just had to share!

✨ Comfy, Cozy, and Full of Gratitude ✨

Last week, we had the absolute joy of hosting our ☕️Comfy & Cozy Staff Christmas Party — a small way to give back to the incredible team who gives so much every single day.

Long hours and busy days in a large building can take a toll, both physically and emotionally. Our hope was to create a space where staff could slow down, relax, enjoy some hot cocoa, share a meal, watch a movie, and simply feel appreciated.

The smiles, laughter, and moments captured in these photos say it all. 🩷

🥳This event was made possible by our **Circle of Change Committee**, whose mission is to help, support, and encourage staff through meaningful events that build morale, connection, and a positive workplace culture.
🥳This committee is made up of employees from multiple departments who work together to make things like this happen.

The Circle of Change committee is able to plan and provide fun activities like this through their own committee fundraising efforts —staff treats, games, events, and after-work activities are some of the things made possible by the dedication and creativity of this group.

The staff of St. John’s — across all departments — work tirelessly caring for individuals ranging from 👶six weeks old to over 100 years young🥰, and they truly deserve the world. We are endlessly grateful for their compassion, resilience, and commitment to caring for our residents, families, and community. 🫶

We rang in the New Year by celebrating St. John’s 125th year of service to the Springfield-area communities with a Roaring 20’s–themed New Year’s Eve event — a night filled with reflection, gratitude, and community. ✨

This milestone represents generations of staff, families, residents, volunteers, board members, and supporters who have all played a role in shaping St. John’s into what it is today. Throughout the evening, we reflected on that journey — where we’ve been, who we’ve served, and the legacy we continue to build together.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration possible. A special thank you to our planning committee: Brianna Jensen, Molly Meendering, Katie Wilhelmi, Taylor Milbrath, Christina Wagner, Missy Larson, Emily Sturm, Julie Morgan, Mandi Stark, and Lindsey Beyer — your time, dedication, and countless hours of preparation do not go unnoticed.
