February 2 is Groundhog Day - a reminder of how easy it can be to fall into the same patterns. At neba, we choose growth, reflection, and moving forward together.

Two weeks after MLK Day, we’re still reflecting on our 41st annual MLK Day Retreat, where neba staff and board members came together for a day focused on leadership, communication, and team building - ed by Culture Redesigned.

At neba, leadership isn’t defined by a title. Everyone is a leader. It shows up in how we listen, how we support one another, and how we show up every day for the people and communities we serve.

We’re grateful for the time to pause, reflect, and strengthen our collective commitment to equity, opportunity, and meaningful work - for all.

Every journey toward meaningful employment begins with a goal—believing in potential, naming possibilities, and taking the first step forward. At neba, we help individuals with developmental disabilities transform goals into real opportunities through inclusive employment and skill-building. 💙💼

When goals are supported, potential becomes progress.

Stay safe!

As a significant winter storm approaches, individuals with disabilities may experience additional challenges especially for those who rely on mobility aids, personal assistance, or durable medical equipment.

Keep in mind these safety tips to plan for everyone's needs and always remember to check on your neighbors!

In Massachusetts, nearly 1 in 10 working-age adults lives with a disability — yet employment opportunities remain far out of reach for many.

While more than 80% of people without disabilities are employed, employment rates drop dramatically for people with disabilities, with some groups seeing rates below 20%. Many who do find work are more likely to be stuck in part-time roles, lower wages, or jobs without long-term stability.

Persistent barriers to employment mean that people with disabilities in Massachusetts are three times more likely to live in poverty — a gap neba works to close every day.

That’s where neba comes in.

At neba, we help people facing barriers to employment — including individuals with disabilities and those receiving public benefits — build skills, find meaningful work, and succeed on the job. When one person gains employment, the impact extends beyond the individual: families are strengthened, employers gain dedicated workers, and our communities grow stronger.

Access to work shouldn’t depend on ability, circumstance, or zip code.
neba is here to help close that gap.

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose words continue to guide our work:

“We must rapidly begin the shift from a ‘thing-oriented’ society to a ‘person-oriented’ society.”

At neba, we take this call to heart. Our work is rooted in recognizing the dignity, value, and potential of every person. We are intentionally person-oriented, centering individual strengths, goals, and voices as we support people in finding meaningful employment and fuller inclusion in their communities.

This is the work Dr. King called us to—leading with humanity, dignity, and justice. To learn more about neba visit our webiste at www.nebaworks.com
