today, i honor the life and legacy of my father, zeph. it’s been four yrs since his transition, which has flown by extremely quickly!

if it weren’t for his deep love, compassion, and care for community, there’d be no garden! it amazes me how many ppl i come into contact with who were touched by my dad.

it’s been four yrs since i’ve been “steering this ship” on my own, and it hasn’t been easy! but it gives me the utmost appreciation for having an example like my zephy, who kept going until he couldn’t anymore. as i find my footing in the wellness space, in my heart of hearts, i know that my dad is in heaven smiling at the ways the garden is still making its rounds around this city.

today, the sun is shining, and i know it’s my zephy continuing to shine his light on us 🤎🌳

the yr is quickly coming to an end and i promised myself I’d do one more of these; that i’d make it good bc the last digital drawing i did for this series was so mid and IM NOT GOING OUT LIKE THAT LOL. i will express how proud i am of myself for finally putting a series like this into the universe though! i have so many content ideas in my head and i always get runaway from connecting on them. my biggest dream for myself + this legacy is to incorporate my artistry into this wellness work; to convey that creativity and wellness are closely aligned. cheers for taking a step in that direction this yr! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🤎🌳

1: inspo for this visual: green has become one of my favorite colors + i like love the army fatigue pattern. inside the words “electric eats” i attempted to create that pattern. then, i just wanted to draw green things to accompany it; some of the drawings are recycled, some i polished up and some are new.. but they’re all green! lol
2: i’ve been experimenting with bread! my method for this batch: rolled a layer of spelt dough, topped it with mix of seasoned tomatoes, onions; folded thaat over and topped it with the same mix of veggies—so it ended up being like stuffed bread!
3: a seamoss drink for breakfast; brazil nut bases, some turmeric, vanilla + ceylon cinnamon loaded w/ lots of seamoss
4: quesadilla feels like an “always slap” go-to for me. this one was a spelt tortilla + kale, oyster mushrooms, red onions & a cashew cheese sauce inside
5: the garden’s classic green monster drink has become one of my favorite drinks to have. that’s mind blowing to me bc until about 3 yrs into my plant-based journey i despised the taste of the green drink.. growth!!!
6: some more bread! this one was a spelt, einkorn attempt @ focaccia, topped w/ seasoned yellow onions, cilantro + sesame seeds
7: i enjoyed my birthday having eithopian dinner w/ friends @ lalibela, in hew haven, ct; ambiance of the place is 10/10
8 & 9: cooked dinner w/ shimmy

checking in w/ a june & july electric eats recap. those two months felt like they were morphed together and flewwww by but i ate some really tasty meals & broke bread w/ some of my favorite ppl! ❤️‍🔥

1. some simple cover art by me… digital drawing inspo been lacking so just some cute words for y’all loll
2. einkorn pancakes topped w/ coconut butter, hempseeds + walnuts. my fav go-to pancake combo rn 🤤
3. a hearty west indian-inspired turmeric based soup w/ some okra, yellow squash & hot peppers as the main veggies. muy calienteee 🥵
4. my friend’s famous and extremelyyy tasty jollof quinoa. OMG i’d every day if i could
5. first ever attempt at vodka pasta— superrr good— w/ pan fried oyster 🍄‍🟫+ a loaded mixed green salad
6. eithopian cuisine exploration pt 1: 📍washington, dc @ cher cher. top 3 best eithopian food i’ve ever eaten
7. tomato & onion, white sauce + spelt crust pizza 😋
8. prepared by another friend: her spin on potato salad using plantains + the crispiest , sweet and sour coated oyster mushrooms
9. kelp caesar salad 📍nyc @ planta transparently speaking: a treat, but really a cheat meal bc ik the ingredients aren’t the most electric but occasionally the chance to sit down and have a “high end” eating experience is what we all need in this lifetime 🤷🏾‍♀️ ( i should talk about this one day)
10. an airplane meal: quinoa w/ a some tomato based stewed veggies + plantains. lots of travel in the last few months but i always attempt to bring something w/ me for the road so my body isn’t having junk food the entire time im on a trip
11. eithopian exploration pt 2: 📍los angeles, ca @ messob eithopian restaurant. the ambiance of this place aka the way culture ran all throughhh the shop was top tier!
