Based in the heart of Illinois' State Capitol, Saints Flight continues to provide critical care transportation since it's established grounds were set in October 2008. Saints Flight is owned and operated by Air Methods Corp., based out of Englewood, Colorado. Saints Flight is a full service team consisting of a flight nurse, flight paramedic, and pilot, providing care 24/7. Our flight team responds to scene requests from EMS/Fire Departments, and inter-hospital transports between two facilities. In addition to these types of flights, Saints Flight also has collaborated with St. John’s Hospital NICU, PICU, and OB teams to perform their specialty transports. Air Methods is the largest publicly owned air transportation provider in the world. With 300 bases, stretched over 48 states, and it's recent expansion into international territories, Air Methods is known as The Defenders of Tomorrow.

Have you ever seen a helicopter start?

This morning, Springfield had dense, cold fog that led to frost accumulation on the rotor blades. During his thorough preflight inspection, pilot Ian identified the frost and started the helicopter to safely burn it off before any flight operations could begin.

Our crews remain on standby 24/7, continuously monitoring weather conditions to ensure the safety of our patients and our teams - because every decision starts with safety.

Please help us welcome our new pilot, Ian! 🎉🚁

Ian comes to us from the sunny state of Florida ☀️ and got one heck of a welcome to the Midwest with subzero temperatures. He spent the day flying with lead pilot Marc, working on area familiarization around Decatur, Springfield, and St. Louis — and even got his first patient flight under his belt. We’re glad to have him joining the Saints Flight team! 💙
