Nicole Annette King Massingill was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to Arthur and Gayle (Funke) King on October 4, 1963. Nicole passed away in Springfield, Colorado on January 15, 2026; she was 62 years old.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services Chapel located at 265 W. 8th Avenue, Springfield, Colorado. Inurnment will follow at the Springfield Cemetery.

Although the words may appear to mean the same thing, grief and mourning actually have very different meanings. In the most simple comparison, grief is internal and mourning is external. Grief is the emotional response that a person has to a loss and often follows a pattern of emotional states, shock, rage, depression, etc. Mourning is the process one goes through to find a new normal after losing a loved one. It is any actions someone takes to cope/work through the time after a loss.

After losing a loved one, many people hear the phrase, "It gets better." from a friend who has also lost a loved one at one time or another.

There are things you can stop doing right now to achieve happiness. First of all: stop blaming. Taking responsibility when things go wrong instead of blaming others isn't masochistic, it's empowering. Secondly, stop impressing.
