Where a baby happens to be born should not determine his or her access to safe, clean conditions to come into the world. Every birth, every baby, is a miracle from God, and we should treat it as such.

On Friday, Oct. 3, Damond Boatwright, HSHS President and CEO, was joined by several HSHS colleagues at the United Way of Central Illinois Fall Day of Action.

"This is my fourth year volunteering for the United Way Day of Action, and I can’t think of a better way to spend my first weekend in October. Volunteering is not only rewarding but the best way to feel more connected to others who are as committed to serving the critical needs in our community," Damond shared.

This year's Day of Action was at the Adams Wildlife Sanctuary where our team helped to clean the wildlife viewing area and improve landscaping. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time!

Today is the Feast of St. Clare of Assisi, and what better way is there to celebrate than with butterflies beautifully emerging from their chrysalis and a container being shipped to Ukraine?

On April 22, the Mission Outreach Laudato Si garden was blessed and began growing shortly after. We made sure to include many native plants that would help sustain our birds and pollinators, and today we had our first four butterflies hatch. They thoroughly enjoyed the garden after a weeklong sleep.

Today was also the third container in a row that has been shipped to Ukraine in the last several weeks. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing group of volunteers who thoughtfully prepare each box that make up the hundreds in each container, and today the Monday morning group was able to also be a part of the container blessing.
