Today is a rough day.
For many of us, the Curve Inn has been a "home away from home." So, getting the news that your second home is burning down, it comes as a bit of a shock. Our club is rooted in the Curve. When we started, our "go-to" location was the Curve. So, today, it hits very close to home.
"Home."
Home is where your family is. That's exactly what the Curve has been to us, as a Chapter of the RMC, for many years. It's where we start our St. Jude Ride, and for this year, where we planned to end the St. Jude Ride, among other years.
Home is when you walk in and, like Cheers, "everyone knows your name." The staff treats you like one of their own. Hell, they already know what you drink. Sometimes, you don't even have to give your credit card at the start of the round because they just "trust you." Like...family.
That's the way it has been with Ray and Ami. They have treated the Springfield Roughnecks M/C like family. This is the reason they were the very first recipients of the framed RMC Supporter Patch. What they do for not only us, but FOR St. Jude, is loved beyond words can express. But, that doesn't stop there. The Curve Inn is also very welcoming to our law enforcement community when they travel for the annual Law Enforcement Memorial held the first week of May. Imagine, you're a visitor from 3 hours away and you already know what you're doing when you get to town. You also know you're seeing people you haven't seen for a year and you catch up like it was yesterday.
"Love."
We love the staff. They are the heart and soul of a National Historical landmark: The Curve Inn. They grind day in and in and day out. They are the reason you come there. They don't make the Cosmo. They don't make the Old Fashioned. Who cares. They grab a cold drink and ask ya how your day went and they listen. Many places do this, but so does the Curve.
Many of us have been there for years and remember what it looked like before Ray and Ami took over. We know and understand the love and support they put into, not only the building, but to the staff and to the customers. We also know, that no matter what, they will rise from those ashes and come back bigger, and better, and stronger than before and we will be there to support you all along the way as family should. When you hear the owner sob over the devastation and her one primary concern is the wellbeing of her staff, that’s a family!!
Please, if the Curve has ever made a difference in your life as it has done ours, donate to help the staff during this difficult time as they need family more than ever.
