Did you know that many medications are unsafe for patients with alpha-gal syndrome?

Alpha-gal syndrome, commonly called AGS, is a potentially fatal allergy to mammalian byproducts.

Those with AGS are allergic to everything from pork to lanolin; such allergens can be found in common consumer products including shampoo, dental floss, and mints – and even medicines.

Many medications contain ingredients such as gelatin and milk. Patients with AGS commonly face a unique challenge: medications they take to address other illnesses – high blood pressure, anxiety, arthritis – make them sick.

Dr. Roberts can help: when available, she prescribes medications specially formulated to be safe for patients with AGS. She can also often find an AGS-safe, natural solution for the issue.
