Massachusetts Friends! Scheduling for Phase 2 vaccine appointments at the state-run vaccine sites will be opening as of January 27. If you know of someone who meets the Phase 2 (age 75+) eligibility requirement who is interested in receiving the vaccine, please direct them to the Mass.Gov/COVIDvaccine web site for information on locations and to schedule.

Baystate Health's efforts to secure PPE featured in New York Times Magazine
The New York Times Magazine will be publishing a feature story this week on Baystate Health’s extraordinary effort to secure PPE for its frontline workers as the COVID-19 pandemic raged. The article is based on a piece written by Dr. Andrew Artenstein, Chief Physician Executive, Baystate Health, for the New England Journal of Medicine entitled “In Pursuit of PPE,” which detailed his encounter with FBI agents and Homeland Security at a warehouse in the “mid-Atlantic” while attempting to pick-up the much needed protective equipment for Baystate caregivers.

As the country heads into a dangerous new phase of the pandemic, the government’s management of the P.P.E. crisis has left the private sector still straining to meet anticipated demand.
