Black-Heald Walker Funeral Home is seeking a part-time Funeral Attendant to join our caring, community-focused team. This position is approximately 20 hours per week (+/-) with flexible scheduling, making it an excellent fit for retired individuals, stay-at-home parents with children in school, or anyone looking for meaningful part-time work and reliable supplemental income.

About the Role:

We get it… working at a funeral home might sound a little unusual. But we truly believe it’s some of the most rewarding work out there. We help families through the worst moments of their lives, and in this role, you have the opportunity to make a real, meaningful, and lasting difference — often in ways families never forget.

Funeral Attendants play an essential role in supporting families and ensuring services run smoothly, both behind the scenes and out front. Calm, kindness, and attention to detail matter here.

What you’ll do:

Assisting with funerals, visitations, memorial services, graveside services, and receptions
Maintaining cleanliness and order in public and office areas of the funeral home

Greeting and assisting families and guests with warmth, professionalism, and discretion

Transporting flowers, supplies, and running local errands

Providing light phone coverage and general assistance to our Funeral Directors

Setting up and breaking down service spaces as needed

What we’re looking for:

A professional appearance and demeanor is imperative — you are representing our funeral home and the families we serve

A kind, calm, and respectful presence, especially during emotional moments

Dependability, flexibility, and good judgment
Ability to be on your feet for periods of time and lift light to moderate items

Valid driver’s license, a background check, and reliable transportation are required

No prior funeral home experience required — we will train the right person

(Compassion, common sense, and showing up when you say you will go a long way.)
