Serving Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Duplin, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Pender & Yancey County Schools

In September, 2011 HeS launched in 3 schools in Mitchell and Yancey counties in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. Since that time, we have expanded to include all 13 public schools in McDowell county, including McDowell Technical Community College, and 6 schools in Burke. We also now serve a combined 14 sites in Mitchell and Yancey counties. Currently, over 10,000 students have easy, affordable, comprehensive access to healthcare where they spend the majority of their time - at school.

💚 During National Mental Illness Awareness Week, it's essential to acknowledge the alarming statistics:
over 20% of young adults struggle with mental illness, 8% of teenagers experience anxiety disorders, and tragically, 400 young teens commit suicide annually.

Unfortunately, only 1 in 5 receive the necessary support.

Health-e-Schools is here to help. If you have concerns about a teenager, please reach out to your school nurse or contact appts@crhi.org.

Did you know:
✨Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10-24
✨Approximately 1 in 10 teens reported seriously considering suicide
✨Girls attempt suicide more often.
✨Boys die more often from suicide.
