Chinese Medicine is based on nature - how we react to it, how we are similar to it, how we, as individuals are a microcosm of the greater macrocosm - Nature. The Chinese discovered that everything could be broken down to five energy types: Wood, Earth, Fire, Metal & Water. As Chinese Medical Practitioners, we use the 5 Elements to diagnose the imbalances of our patients, then work to balance that element with Acupuncture & Herbs,so the patient can heal themselves.
There is a little bit of all the elements in us, but we each have a dominant element. Today, I will give you a brief summary of the human qualities of each element, so that you may define yours. Tomorrow I will discuss the imbalances of each element, and Thursday I will discuss the health issues. Check back each day to get a better idea of your element qualities.
