CDC has confirmed the second human infection with the new 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the United States in a patient in Illinois who had recently traveled to Wuhan, China. Precautions are being taken to prevent any further exposures. However, CDC expects more cases are likely to be identified in the coming days.
While CDC considers this is a very serious public health threat, based on current information, the immediate health risk from 2019-nCoV to the general American public is considered low at this time.
CDC is closely monitoring a novel (new) coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in Wuhan, China. There are more than 40 confirmed human infections of 2019-nCoV.
