Day 2 of 80 Day Obsession, Round 5 is with the workout B***y. Phew, that’s done! And once again, I stick to the food plan and did the proper workout. So far, so good. Food wise, I stuck almost exactly to yesterday’s meals. The timed nutrition aspect can be complicated but worth it once getting it down. I’m going to mix things up with the meals so that I don’t get bored, there’s something to be said with sticking with a plan once you’ve found one that works! As for the workout, it was really heavily focused on the one body part, in stark contrast to yesterday’s total body approach. It combines being relatively gentle in the sense that I was never gasping for breath, dripping sweat, or trembling under heavy weight, with being really quite intense in the sense of burning out my flutes and quads. There were no weights or sliders involved but every single exercise involved the bands and really made the most of them. The workout started on the floor and remained there for some time. A round on your back involving different variations on bridges then a round on all fours based around leg lifts then a particularly torturous round lying on your side. Three moves of 15 reps each in each of those 3 sets. After that, it was up to standing, for one round featuring small, focused moves, then a final round based around the more traditional squats, lunges, and side squats but with bands still and with the muscles under constant tension. Like yesterday, the whole thing was then repeated but my endurance seemed a bit better today and the hour went very fast. I’ll see whether or not it aches tomorrow but the glutes and associated muscles clearly got a lot of work and thoufh rarely directly targeted, I suspect there was quite a bit of sneaky core work going on. On the whole, most other muscles didn’t see much action but I quite enjoyed being so ruthlessly focused.

9 Week Control Freak - Phase 2; Week 2; Workout 2: DCT-T: Shoulders: This workout was interesting because of all the different directions the body was going. At times I wasn’t sure in the twelve minutes if left was suppose to go right, or up was supposed to go down. She said sometimes have to fake it until you meals it mentally. I needed to hear that during the moment I heard it. My video on the phone kept going off because I kept getting notifications. I just kept going as best they I could. I struggled a lot with this workout. On the shoulder moves for ten making sure picking the correct weight is key or else the muscles will burnout real quickly. Those burpees sucked yet was so productive. I got my heart rate up to 167 at it’s max heart rate and burned 536 calories during this workout. I was sweating a ton after that workout! The Controlled Stretch connected to this workout felt great. I needed that very much.

Body Beast - Build: Chest & Triceps. This workout always gives me confidence and a great pump. I still used the same weight as last time doing this routine. This is such an awesome workout. This one has a lot of supersets. There’s killer tricep reps as well. It hits the chest muscles with presses, flys, and push ups. It gives you a great workout with just a bench and dumbbells. I feel like getting strong during and after this workout. I burnt 624 calories during this workout. I left behind a mini kiddie pool of sweat that I’m thankful for Simple Green products to clean the Beast Dungeon flooring! It’s definitely an awesome workout!

Day 1 of 80 Day Obsession, Round 5 is with the workout Total Body Core. So that workout has been done successfully. The first installment of Total Body Core completes. The correct number and combination of boxes consumed in more or less the right order. Today was hectic at work and stressful which normally I would resort to eating extra treats but I stuck to the food game plan today. I’ve done portion fix lots of times before but the timed nutrition aspect was approved by my doctors and works so well with my body when done successfully. I know that I can trust the process. With the workout, I had a lot of success. I could definitely have gone heavier on certain exercises but if I’d have gone heavier consistently then I think I’d had burnt out before the end. There were more band based exercises than weight based ones anyway so it didn’t hugely matter. The format was 5 rounds, each focused on a different body part though with a strong core focus throughout, 3 exercises each round, 15 reps per exercise, some repeated on both sides, performed straight through then repeated. There was quite a bit of variation. Some exercises, such as tricep kickbacks, were completely standard. There were some interesting compound exercises, such as a squat with a shoulders press and a twist, that nearly worked two body parts plus the core. And there were some nice little add on moves that make it a little harder. Finally, there were some real challenging floor moves with a more straightforward core focus that hugely challenged both my abs and my balance. The side plank with knee pull was my favorite. I felt like I was getting a good all over workout and an excellent core blast while also keeping my heart rate elevated but although some individual exercises were killers for the first half, I I didn’t feel quite as challenged as I was expecting. The pace seemed slightly gentler than the similar workout in A Little Obsessed but then at the thirty minute mark where I’d be finished if I were doing ALO or 21 Day Fix or something the whole thing started again and it was quite amazing how much harder most of the exercises felt second time around. About ten minutes from the end.

Body Beast - Cardio & Abs. This workout was so challenging and so rewarding, I did pause the workout a few additional times to get my breath as I was huffing and puffing a ton. I worked up a killer sweat in this workout. This workout got my heart rate elevated. It maxed out at 168 with an average heart rate of 154. The cardio portion of the workout is more like a total body workout but most moves are push hard with weights for at least one minute so you get burned out which is good. I really enjoyed the abs portion of the workout. I felt the movements in my core along with my abdominals. It was such a challenging workout. I burnt 645 calories in the combined workouts. I left a ton of sweat behind in this workout.

Day 7 as I prep to start 80 Day Obsession, I completed the routine from P90X3 with the workout X3 Yoga. This is one of my all time favorite routines. I can feel it in almost every inch of my body. I have still been feeling the soreness from the workouts of the past week.

Body Beast - Bulk - Arms. I felt this workout in such a good way. I’m a fan of how the pace of this workout is along with the isolation of the muscle groups is focused on. I used the same weights as I did last time and they were challenging. I’m right where I should be at the moment. It’s a great feeling to have. I burnt 533 calories during this workout. I got a great pump doing the workout and I felt my confidence rising.

Day 5 of A Little Obsessed with the workout Legs. In contrast to some of the other workout in this mini-series, which are quite complicated and innovative and trying lots of body parts at once, thus is a good, solid, traditional leg day. It’s essentially based around variations on squats and lunges, with lots of reps and little time to catch your breath. The pattern is three sets of three 15 rep exercises, repeated twice. This wasn’t a particularly fun workout as it’s very much a get in and get it done affair but my goodness it’s effective. My legs are pretty strong, proportionately much stronger than my upper body and it takes a lot to burn them out but by the end of this, matching Autumn weight for weight, so mostly 35 pounds on each side & 70 pounds in total, my legs were trembling and I really had to force myself through the last few reps. I’m sure my legs are going to be achey for the next several days afterwards! I would be lying if I said I actively enjoyed this one because ouch but I’d highly recommend it for those days when you want to get some serious leg work in while also blasting some calories.

Body Beast - Cardio + Abs + Classic Abs. What the heck did I just do? Haha! I must like a little torture doing all of these workouts back to back to back. Cardio with this program is not necessary traditional jump on a treadmill style workout. It’s intense. Never gets easier. I just keep getting stronger. I do notice that my breaks are less and less between. It’s intense yet I love every bit of it. I hit my abdominals and core real nice with both workouts. All combined I burnt 643 calories. I just felt it big time. I needed that as my confidence grew throughout this workout.
