People First of St. Charles People First is a self-advocacy organization run by and for adults with developmental disabilities. WHAT IS PEOPLE FIRST? People First of St.

Charles promotes equality for people with disabilities so they can be included as they so choose in the community. PEOPLE FIRST MEMBERS ARE SELF-ADVOCATES WHO:

• Teach and empower people with developmental disabilities to understand their rights and responsibilities and to speak up for themselves.

• Support members in living the life they want with the supports they need.

• Advocate for community services that allow all people to have choices and control over their supports and lives.

• Create change in communities to ensure opportunity and full, meaningful participation for all people. People First Language

Our 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat Family Empowerment Event is just 1-WEEK AWAY!

We will have hot dogs, snow cones by Kona Ice, chips, best trunk decorating contests, and most importantly CANDY! This event is FREE and will be an boo-tiful day!

Bring a can of green beans, corn, or cranberry sauce for our Annual Can Food/Turkey Drive and be entered into our raffle for an Amp Up Action Park Family 4pk. The more cans you bring the more raffle tickets you get.

Here’s what’s in store: Candy Galore from decorated trunks | A special visit from Santa (yes—Santa’s stopping by early to take Christmas wishes!) | FREE Kona Ice from 12:30–1:30 PM | Raffle Drawing will be at 2pm!

This year People First of St. Charles took almost 30 members to the Real Voices Real Choices conference! We had an absolute blast and were able to take so much great information back home with us. Jeffrey Foust did a presentation on how to speak with Legislators and how important it is. Susan Parker had an open session where three legislators joined to answer general questions! Can’t wait until next year!
