Did you know the STL monkeys and the goat stopped by our counseling office last week?
Here’s what happened during their visit:
• The monkeys requested family therapy. Apparently there’s been some bickering, a lot of interrupting, and strong opinions about who touched whose banana. We worked on communication skills like taking turns, using words instead of noises, and noticing when someone else needs space. Progress was made… briefly.
• The goat joined for support and modeled calm body language, respectful listening, and “I’m not reacting to this” energy. Honestly, a natural co-regulator.....until she got distracted by the box of tissues. We get it, though. Snacks are life.
• By the end, the monkeys agreed to pause before reacting, name what they were feeling, and stop throwing things when frustrated. Small wins count.
Everyone left a little more regulated, slightly more connected, and still very much themselves. Whether it’s monkeys, goats, siblings, families, or stressed humans… Big feelings happen. Communication can get messy. Support helps.
St. Louis, if your week feels a little wild, we get it 🐒🐐
