Sound familiar? Here are some tips to calm your mind.
~ 4-7-8 Deep Breathing: Take slow deep breaths. Inhale 4 counts, hold 7 counts, exhale 8 counts.

-Get outside: Spend time outdoors, whether in your backyard, walking your neighborhood, finding a park or seeking out a trail. Just being outside can be soothing and grounding. It also helps your body naturally absorb Vitamin D from the sun rays.

~Organize: A cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind. Spend a few minutes tidying up your surroundings.

~Limit caffeine and sugar: Reducing stimulants can help prevent anxiety and promote a more relaxed, natural state.

PSA based on various calls and texts I’ve received over the past couple of days:

Whether your child is 5, 15, or 25+ if they want to sleep with parents/caregivers following tragedy or grief IT IS 💯 OK and NORMAL. They are seeking comfort and a safe space-especially at night. As a parent/caregiver, if that means your bedroom, I encourage you to meet this need.

If your bed isn’t big enough or it makes you uncomfortable, have them drag bedding into your room for a good old fashioned slumber party. Provide them with the sanctuary they need right now. These are unchartered waters for many and a trigger of past traumas for others. Be their beacon.

Good evening. I’ve spent the past few days consulting with medical personnel and fellow colleagues about continuing to see clients face to face. As a result of the ever growing precautionary measures being taken to flatten the curve against Covid-19, I am choosing to move all sessions to a phone or Telehealth platform until further notice. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these uncertain times.

Wishing you safety & wellness,

Amy
