Candi is the perfect example of joy and playfulness, exuding kindness and compassion. When thinking of playful endings to the retreat, I wanted someone who could help us get out of our heads and into our bodies. A freeing and empowering practice, that heals the child within. After sharing this vision with Candi, she came up with the perfect activity that will create so much space in your heart for joy, love and play.

I’m so excited to introduce you all to Candi Leaderbrand, our ceremonial leader for our Saturday night closing session. .magic

Candi is a heart-centered ceremonialist who creates spaces for authentic connection, play, and joy. She dreams up opportunities to slow down & savor life, one morsel at a time. As a vocalist, musical journeywoman, chef, and women’s event facilitator, she weaves together sound, creativity & a touch of magic into beautiful rituals to honor life, pleasure, & personal power. Candi’s work centers on fostering a warm sense of belonging, celebration, and the remembrance of what it feels like to be truly alive.

We just know our guests are going to love Lindsay Walden! Lindsay has multiple passions, but two of them are exploring relationships and the brain. At our April retreat, Lindsay will be talking with us about relationships, answering those more intimate questions we might have and diving into the fascinating world of brain health.

If you’ve ever been through perimenopause or menopause, you probably see how the two are very connected. 😉

She’ll teach us about the latest technologies using sound frequencies and brain waves to improve areas of the brain that may be struggling.

Meet Lindsay:

Hi, I’m Lindsay, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified S*x Therapist, and Cognitive Neuro Therapist. My work blends neuroscience, emotional health, and practical tools to help people better understand their minds, emotions, and relationships.

I’m the creator of Cognitive Neuro Therapy (CNT) and the Neuro Monsters framework, a brain-based model designed to make emotional patterns easier to recognize and navigate. I also work with Cereset, integrating brain science into the healing and regulation process.

I’m truly honored to be part of this retreat and excited to introduce a very special Neuro Monster created just for this event.

Want to see Lindsay in action? Join us at Women’s Wellness Weekend in April!

Is there anything better than sunshine poking through after a long winter?

As we head into Spring, take advantage of this time to begin to desensitize your eyes to sunlight by getting lots of morning sun and some afternoon sun without sunglasses. Your eyes will adjust over time and do far better at being exposed year round (or as much as you can tolerate). Working on this early helps when that sun gets super bright this summer.

Why does this matter? Because sunlight is a code to our bodies, read through our eyes! It helps set our circadian rhythm, helps our skin know how to protect itself and helps with hormone signaling in our bodies. When we wear sunglasses, we are more likely to burn as our skin doesn’t have the signal through our eyes about the strength of the UV.

Interested in understanding this more? I loved a course I took years ago in this topic. I’ll drop the link.

Here’s a snippet of the course I took:

“The problem with sunglasses is that they confuse your brain & blunt circadian and hormone signaling.

When light enters your eyes - your brain is informed that it is time for your skin to make melanin & urocanic acid (see paper) - which can prepare your skin to receive stronger sunlight. In other words - unfiltered light coming in to your eyes communicates to your brain - which then communicates to your skin.

When you wear sunglasses you also tell your brain to stop making cortisol during the day (which can create other downstream hormone imbalances) & it can make you more prone to depression (see study)

Aromatic amino acids in your eyes capture photons from UV light that transform tryptophan into serotonin - which is later recycled into that night's melatonin (sunglasses can disrupt this process).

So not only can sunglasses make you more prone to sunburn, hormone imbalances & insomnia - but -they can also disrupt serotonin production which affects behavior and mental abilities (and melatonin controls energy production & cleanup in the mitochondria).

UV light exposure to the eyes triggers the activation of a chemical called melanocyte-stimulating hormone, which causes the skin to thicken and darken as a protective measure against harmful rays. (see study)

This study also shows how UVB light in your eyes is important for nitric oxide production, lowered inflammation & skin protection.

HOWEVER - It is still important to protect your eyes if you are on sand, snow, water, concrete (anywhere there is an unnatural glare) - or while driving. Please use your best discretion & know that you CAN still damage your eyes if you look directly at the sun.”

This is my nerdy passion for helping people rethink what actually causes problems in our body and one of the biggest demonized helpers to our health is the sun!! ☀️

✨ We’re so excited to welcome Amanda Baenisch of Daily Apple Wellness! ✨

Amanda will guide us through hormone health and dysfunction, and how to bring the body back into balance naturally and with supportive therapies. She’ll also be offering energy healing through BodyTalk, a powerful process that helps release stuck energy and restore communication within the body.

✨ Meet Amanda:
Amanda Baenisch, CNHP, is a Natural Health Practitioner with 17 years of experience supporting clients through natural health counseling. She continues to expand her education and is currently working toward a doctorate in alternative medicine. Based in the Lake of the Ozarks, Amanda works with clients locally and virtually across the U.S.

Amanda practices from a functional medicine perspective, identifying root causes and addressing underlying imbalances rather than just symptoms. By offering longer, more personalized sessions, she helps clients resolve issues before they become chronic—often leading to lasting relief.

She is a hormone specialist, certified BodyTalk practitioner, and certified Enneagram coach. Amanda’s own healing journey—including recovery from autoimmune disease—led her to combine functional medicine, BodyTalk, and coaching, a blend that ultimately restored her health and now supports her clients’ healing as well.

Originally from California, Amanda has lived in many places and now calls Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri home, where she homeschools one child and serves clients in her community and beyond.

I know that it’s not always easy to sit and watch long videos, so I encourage you to turn this on while driving to work or wherever and just listen. I cut this way down, but if you’d like the full version just comment send and I’ll send it to you.

Kimber Dean is our chef for our April retreat and she is an incredible human. The more time I spend with her, the more grateful I am to have her on the team. She is so transparent about her life and the jagged path it took to get where she is today. She is a light in the world and genuinely cares about helping others heal. She is a gifted chef, working with holistic doctors around the world to heal patients through food, a yogi, and someone who walks the talk after healing her body and mind from drugs in her 20s.

This video is a little sneak peek of what you can expect, but man, our ladies are in for such a treat to learn from her and walk away with tips and tricks for cooking and eating in health promoting ways. Not to mention the delicious meals we will have…and the restorative time with her yoga flow.

Let me know if you want the full video, including her conversation with a gastroenterologist who had never considered food allergies could be causing problems in the colon…😳

Also check out her beautiful menu for the retreat! Sounds so good!

Will we see you at Women’s Wellness Weekend?

Part 2: Meet me! 🤗 Ya’ll it is SO hard to sum your life and quirks up in two minutes. I had to cut it way down. For funsies I have friends over for biohacking parties, I read about everything from quantum healing, manifestation, hormones to the pyramids, near death experiences and structured water. I’m truly fascinated by the energetic realm, I’ve treated all sickness with homeopathy, NAET, Juice Plus, chiropractic care and intentional healing foods for 10+ years, I wear barefoot shoes even though the ones I own are ugly as sin and I cannot stand fragrances of any kind, especially cigarette smoke. I try to avoid touching receipts (IYKYK) and I drink cacao instead of eating dessert. I’m mostly gluten free and sugar free and have learned to actually enjoy this way of life. My favorite place to be is the ocean but second best is on a wooded trail. I love being in my 40s and would never want to go backwards. There is so much peace in knowing who you are and showing up exactly as that! I genuinely love our retreats and guests and find so much joy in creating spaces that matter to people, a space they want to come back to again and again. These ladies feel like my family. And you will, too! I hope this helps you know me a bit better, but I’m an open book so ask away!
