Once you have a goal, understand that there will be elements of discomfort in order to reach it. Think of the phrase "nothing worth having ever comes easily."

If this is a new concept for you, we can help with the process. And even if it's not new, and you find that you need some extra accountability, or that you're at a crossroads with knowing which direction to take, we can help with these pieces too.

We have space for you. Give us a call at 314.892.8009 . Schedule your movement screen and consult, and get started toward your goals.

Elizabeth here, your coach and movement specialist from The Strength Project - I get it. Everything is moving along beautifully and then boom! That hit or miss ache in your back/shoulder/knee/wherever turns into full-blown pain and you find your training in no way looks the same. And it's going to take a few weeks to a few months to rehab?! I guess you're just done, right?

Most of us are lying if we say we haven't felt that way. The first time I got serious about rehabbing my back injury years ago, it took about a year and a half. I wondered if it would ever come around. It more than came around, though as is the case with even healed injury, flare-ups can occur. But what I continue to learn every single time is that persistence in doing the things I can with as much intention as an exciting competition lift has always paid off. I have more than learned that your current injury has the potential to make you the best, strongest, most resilient version of yourself, not only physically but also mentally.

So I'm in the trenches with you. If you are looking for a coach who has been there (for powerlifting, general strength training, or anything in between), we should talk 314.892.8009 . You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The reality is that if you are training intelligently, this movement should aid in strengthening and stabilizing your back. How you move, brace, and position yourself is so important though - not that you need to be afraid, but mindfulness here will get you far. With the deadlift being arguably the single most functional movement (who doesn't pick things up and put them down every single day?), we believe that everyone who has the ability should be able to execute this well.

We meet a lot of people who are afraid of movements like the deadlift. If this is you, we are well-versed in working through this and instilling higher levels of confidence. Give us a call 314.892.8009 - we have several program options to meet your needs.

Struggling with the difference between acceptable and unacceptable pain?

If you find yourself being unsure, you can reference this list or just ask! You don't know what you don't know, and you won't learn to be comfortable with acceptable pain until you learn the difference. We want you to be confident in this and are here to reassure you that some discomfort really is ok to work through.

We meet a lot of people who struggle with this; you are not alone if this is you. Need help? Give us a call at 314.892.8009

Putting a time-cap on your goal will increase the urgency. Not that you have to be in a hurry, but having a date of when you'd like to achieve a goal can keep it at the forefront of your mind and remind you of the purpose of your effort toward it.

You can have all the goals in the world, but if it's not achievable, it will never come to fruition. This isn't about not having enough belief in yourself. This is about taking an inventory of your life to ensure that you have the resources available.

It's January, the time of year when everyone talks about goals. Let's start looking at how to our goals clearer using the SMART method. First up, we are looking at specificity.

How do we know where we need to go if we don't know WHAT we are doing? Getting specific can help to rule out many unnecessary things.

What is a specific goal you have?
