Today, as I walked back into the cancer center for my husband’s 8-year remission check-up, I was faced with a choice. I could look at those walls through the eyes of the woman I was 8 years ago—eyes filled with the raw terror of a new diagnosis and the weight of an uncertain future. Or, I could look through my eyes today: eyes of Wisdom, Grace, and Faith.
Shadow work is often about finding the places where we are still "stuck" in an old version of ourselves. If we aren't careful, we walk through our present lives wearing the heavy armor of our past trauma, forgetting that we have already won the battle.
My Answer to the Shadow:
"I realize that for a long time, I viewed 'medical spaces' as places of powerlessness. That was the 'Old Me' speaking. Today, I am reclaiming that space. I am not a victim of a past scare; I am a witness to a current miracle. I am choosing to see this center not as a place of illness, but as the Sacred Ground where our foundation was built."
Your Turn to Reflect:
Take a moment with the journal in the image. Imagine that peacock feather pen is waiting for your truth.
Is there a memory that still makes your heart race?
Is there a place you avoid because of who you were when you were last there?
What happens if you look at that situation through the lens of the powerful, resilient soul you are right now?
The person you used to be did the best they could with what they had. But they don't hold the pen anymore. You do.
Write your new story in the comments, or simply leave a "✨" if you are reclaiming your light today.
