Cheers to NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY! * Girls in sports have 1.5-2.5 lower rates of anxiety and depression compared to non athletes. * Positive, supportive athletic environments foster skill development and team-building skills. * Athletes have higher self-esteem, better body image, and a greater sense of purpose than non athlete peers. Highly competitive athletic environments are not necessary for these mental health benefits, just a fun, healthy, supportive environment to PLAY.
