⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Belle Burden’s Strangers is a beautiful and haunting memoir of the sudden end of her marriage. A friend chose this book for our upcoming book club and I’m glad she It explores our partnerships, the impact of decisions made long ago, and how we truly know one another. This is not an “easy” read, as Burden shares the pain in not only her divorce, but the impact of this on her friendships and family relationships. It is an important read in the present and during Women’s History Month.

It’s been a slow start to my reading this year. After a couple of DNFs, I finished Wreck by Catherine Newman. It’s a modern fiction tale of a woman in mid life, reconciling her life choices, managing uncertainty with her health, and coping with a tragic loss in her community. It is has moments of humor, though presents the harsh reality of life and all its messiness. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book Rec-The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau by Kristin Harmel. This is a historical fiction story of heroine Colette Marceau told in both the present and in the late 1930’s-1945. Colette is a young jewel thief, working for the French Resistance and ultimately losing her family as the N***s invade her beloved Paris. As the novel unfolds, Colette uncovers more of her the mystery of her past and the locates people she loves and lost. I enjoy Harmel’s work though I found this piece long. The Book of Lost Names is my favorite by this author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cheers to NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY! * Girls in sports have 1.5-2.5 lower rates of anxiety and depression compared to non athletes. * Positive, supportive athletic environments foster skill development and team-building skills. * Athletes have higher self-esteem, better body image, and a greater sense of purpose than non athlete peers. Highly competitive athletic environments are not necessary for these mental health benefits, just a fun, healthy, supportive environment to PLAY. Celebrating all the female athletes, their coaches, and supporters today!

Throwback on this COLD day to the Teton Science School. I dug out my silk long underwear from this Teton adventure for this incredibly cold weekend. It has me thinking… 1. How does clothing survive this long? (Great investment-thanks, Mom) 2. My first time seeing mountains was with friends, after a 36 hour bus ride with no screens. And it was magical! 3. Deep breath and embrace the fun that comes with the unknown of these wild weather weekends. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Tuesday Tip-Be a Good Loser. Oh you may be laughing about this one, but some people really struggle at this important life skill. Accepting the outcome, congratulate the victor, learning from your mistakes are all a key to losing. Each loss provides an opportunity to build strategies to grow for the next opportunity. I have to remind myself of this each time my child beats me at a board game (I haven’t won in MANY months!) Are you a good loser?
