To the patients of Family Doctor’s Care,
During this unprecedented CoVID-19 pandemic it is vitally important to follow the guidance of the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control in order to decrease the spread of this virus.
Following the recommendations for social distancing, I have decided to significantly limit in person contact with patients in the office until further notice and based on CDC recommendations. I will be available to provide “virtual” office visits through phone calls, text, e-mail, Face Time and Skype digital platforms. We request that you do not come to the office for an unscheduled visit.
If you have a medical concern, we asked that you call the office to discuss these concerns. We can then arrange for the best way to respond to your needs be at through a return phone call or scheduled digital communication. If after a phone consultation I feel it is appropriate and necessary, then I will see you for a brief office visit employing appropriate personal protective measures. I request that all routine physical examinations, follow-up for stable chronic medical conditions and health maintenance visits be postponed until the CDC issues further guidance lifting the restrictions on social interactions.
If you have a fever or respiratory/cold symptoms, and have been exposed to a known CoVID positive patient, traveled within the last 2 weeks, or have been exposed to someone who has, please stay home. DO NOT go to your doctor’s office or go to the urgent care. If you have severe or worrisome symptoms such as high fevers and shortness of breath, please call the nearest emergency department for the instructions on how to best access emergency care.
As of March 14, 2020, Mercy hospital has initiated a drive up CoVID-19 testing at a site in Chesterfield. It is my understanding that you will be offered a test only if you meet the criteria of having traveled to an endemic country or had contact with someone who has or has tested positive themselves and are exhibiting symptoms consistent with a flulike illness. These restrictions could change in the future depending upon the availability of testing, the progress of the epidemic and future recommendations from the CDC.
In short, it is best for everyone to stay home if at all possible. These measures are to protect you and prevent the spread of this disease which would likely overwhelm our medical system and jeopardize the most vulnerable. I appreciate your understanding in working with me to keep everyone healthy.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call.
Dr. Fox
