Family Doctors Care

Family Doctors Care Primary care medicine is based on relationships. Our patient supported practice offers a novel approach which strengthens this physician-patient relationship.

A smaller patient panel allows us to spend more time with patients and improve availability.

My dear patients,
As many of you have heard, the 777 medical office building where I have practiced for the past 20 years is being torn down. We anticipate moving to a different location by September 1, 2023.

My associate, Dr. Melissa Fore, and I are relocating to an office building near the intersection of Highway 270 and Olive Boulevard. I will be practicing with her in this new office space which is currently under construction. Until this office is complete, we will be seeing our patients in a temporary space down the hallway from our future home.

I value our relationship and the trust you have placed in me as your family physician.

I feel fortunate to have a place where I can continue to serve you in the medical home you have grown accustomed to. I humbly request your patience and understanding during the next several months of transition.

Our new address is:
12125 Woodcrest Executive Drive Suite #215, St. Louis, MO 63146
I look forward to caring for you at this new location.

Sincerely,
Glenn Fox MD

To my patients at Family Doctors Care,

I am happy to inform you of the resumption of in person office visits starting November 16, 2020.

After inadvertent exposure to a case of COVID-19 in the office on November 3, we followed CDC guidelines and quarantined for two weeks. I’m happy to report that no one exposed in the office contracted the virus. We tested negative for the virus on two occasions and we remain healthy and ready to get back to work. I sincerely appreciate the concern and well wishes we received regarding our well-being.

We will return to seeing patients in the office for routine office based medical care as we have provided in the past. We ask that you always call for an appointment and please inform us if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, such as fever, flu like symptoms of fatigue and muscle aches, cough, loss of sense of taste and smell or headaches. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms we ask that you call and not come to the office. We will endeavor to arrange for you to be tested for COVID-19 and recommend the appropriate treatment approach based on your test results and clinical presentation.

When visiting our office we request that you wear a face-mask for the entire time of the visit and we will do the same.

I appreciate your understanding and I apologize for any inconvenience this lack of access to the office may caused you.

Be safe.

To my patients at Family Doctors Care,

There was an incident of exposure to a patient who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus after being seen in the office today, November 3, 2020. I and my staff were wearing personal protective equipment and are without symptoms.

As a precaution I am closing the office to face-to-face encounters until November 10, 2020. We will determine at that time when it will be safe to begin seeing patients in the office. I and my staff will be available for your phone calls and telemedicine visits during our normal business hours as well as after hours phone calls for any urgent concerns.

I appreciate your understanding and I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Be safe.

Happy Halloween from Family Doctors Scare 🧡

05/29/2020

To my patients at Family Doctors Care,

I would like to announce that we’re back in business!

Following the CDC guidelines for delaying nonessential medical care and the
“shelter in place” recommendations to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus
we had restricted office visits to address only the appropriate urgent
concerns of our patients. We are now back in the office and ready to see
scheduled patients during our usual office hours but with certain restrictions
and procedures to make your visit with us a safe one.

At this time, we are discouraging unscheduled visits. If you wish to be seen
please call to discuss the reason for your visit so that we might appropriately
and safely serve you. Please inform us if you are running a fever,
experiencing shortness of breath or flu like symptoms, as this may not be the
appropriate setting for you to receive care.

The building owners require wearing a mask while in the hallways and
common areas of the building. From what we know now the virus is most
likely transferred by way of respiratory micro droplets. It is a good idea to
wear a mask at all times out in public. Myself and my staff will be wearing
masks throughout the time of your visit and we would request you do so as
well. If you do not have a mask, we would be happy to provide you with one.

Patients are seen one at a time. All surfaces are disinfected before and after
your visit. And in order to reduce the amount of time in the office and
therefore reduce potential exposure (although not required) I would
encourage you to call the back-line office number at 314-692-8008 on your
cell phone when you get to the parking lot at your appointment time. We
can then start the visit over the phone while you are sitting in your car. Once
we have established an adequate history then you can come up to the office
wearing your mask for the examination, vital signs and blood test etc.

As always, I value the importance of communication in our relationship. I do
not wish to make it difficult for you to contact me with any question or
concern. I can always be reached during office hours by calling 314-414-
2273. Also, during office hours, there is a secure phone number for text
messages and photographs at 636-896-5065. Our office email address,
while not a HIPPA compliant means of communication, is
office@familydoctorsare.com and you can reach me through this electronic
platform as well. For after hours concerns I request calling the office at 314-
414-2273 and you will be directly connected to my cell phone or, if I am out
of town, to the physician covering for me. My cell phone number is 314-803-
9292 but I request that you not call or text me on this number during the day
as I may be with patients and be unable to answer right away.

I am happy to get back to seeing my patients. I love what I do and I am
honored by the trust and confidence you have placed in me over the years. I
look forward to continuing our relationship as we safely navigate through
these unsettled times.

Sincerely,
Glenn Fox MD

Habits

Twenty three.

This is the average number of times per hour medical students touched their faces as documented in a study from Australia in 2015. I suspect most of those medical students were unaware of their propensity to self inoculate with a contagious disease. Many of us are unaware of our habitual activity unless we pause and reflect on our actions, attitudes and approach to life.

Fourteen.

This is the number of people who stopped to ask if I was OK or needed help as I sat on the side of Grant’s Trail yesterday evening changing a flat tire on the rear wheel of my bicycle. I suspect if you would inquire about their activities yesterday evening, most of these 14 people would be clueless of their kindness. Simple gifts of grace to ease my troubled mind and bring me hope.

May we use this break from our “normal“ lives to reflect on what we habitually do. May choosing kindness become our default position, an attitude we are unaware of having. And may the effect of our newly formed habits become contagious.

Stay safe. Call with any questions.

Dr. Fox

Family Doctors Care will be closing at 4:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and at 3:00 on Friday until further notice. Thank you

To the patients of Family Doctor’s Care,

During this unprecedented CoVID-19 pandemic it is vitally important to follow the guidance of the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control in order to decrease the spread of this virus.
Following the recommendations for social distancing, I have decided to significantly limit in person contact with patients in the office until further notice and based on CDC recommendations. I will be available to provide “virtual” office visits through phone calls, text, e-mail, Face Time and Skype digital platforms. We request that you do not come to the office for an unscheduled visit.
If you have a medical concern, we asked that you call the office to discuss these concerns. We can then arrange for the best way to respond to your needs be at through a return phone call or scheduled digital communication. If after a phone consultation I feel it is appropriate and necessary, then I will see you for a brief office visit employing appropriate personal protective measures. I request that all routine physical examinations, follow-up for stable chronic medical conditions and health maintenance visits be postponed until the CDC issues further guidance lifting the restrictions on social interactions.
If you have a fever or respiratory/cold symptoms, and have been exposed to a known CoVID positive patient, traveled within the last 2 weeks, or have been exposed to someone who has, please stay home. DO NOT go to your doctor’s office or go to the urgent care. If you have severe or worrisome symptoms such as high fevers and shortness of breath, please call the nearest emergency department for the instructions on how to best access emergency care.
As of March 14, 2020, Mercy hospital has initiated a drive up CoVID-19 testing at a site in Chesterfield. It is my understanding that you will be offered a test only if you meet the criteria of having traveled to an endemic country or had contact with someone who has or has tested positive themselves and are exhibiting symptoms consistent with a flulike illness. These restrictions could change in the future depending upon the availability of testing, the progress of the epidemic and future recommendations from the CDC.
In short, it is best for everyone to stay home if at all possible. These measures are to protect you and prevent the spread of this disease which would likely overwhelm our medical system and jeopardize the most vulnerable. I appreciate your understanding in working with me to keep everyone healthy.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call.
