Lesanto’s Healing Hands Learning Facility INC

Lesanto’s Healing Hands Learning Facility INC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and medically supportive environment for children with disabilities and complex needs.

Located in St. Louis County, our facility is being developed within a 133,087 square foot campus on 20.61 acres, with the vision of becoming one of the largest medical daycare and learning centers for children with special needs in the Midwest.

We provide a comprehensive, family-centered approach that includes:
• Specialized daycare services
• Therapeutic support (speech, occupational, and physical therapy)
• Educational programming
• Respite care for families
• After-school and developmental services

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to build a sanctuary where medical care meets love and dignity. Families caring for children with complex needs often face exhaustion, isolation, and limited resources—we are here to change that.

With a growing waiting list of families, the need is urgent, and the impact will be transformative.

Lesanto’s Healing Hands is not just a facility—it is a movement to restore support, hope, and opportunity for children and families who deserve more.

Public Notice – Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Hearing

Lesanto’s Healing Hands Learning Facility INC will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application.

The purpose of this hearing is to obtain public input on a project to develop a residential facility for foster children in St. Louis County. The project includes electrical upgrades, fire and life safety systems, security access control, and renovation of living spaces to create safe, local placement for children in need.

Legacy of Vision and Education

Charles Wesley Boyd
(1865 – 1951)

Great-Grandfather of the Founder and Visionary of
Lesanto’s Healing Hands Learning Center.

Charles Wesley Boyd was a pioneering African American educator whose life’s work helped establish and strengthen educational opportunities for Black students during one of the most difficult periods in American history.

Born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Boyd earned his education from Wilberforce University and committed his life to teaching, leadership, and the advancement of learning. After teaching in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he moved to Charleston, West Virginia, where he became a central figure in the development of the African American school system.

In 1900, Boyd founded Garnet High School, which grew to become the largest African American high school in West Virginia and a center of academic opportunity for generations of students. Through his leadership as educator, principal, and Supervisor of the Colored Schools in Charleston, the school system expanded from only a handful of teachers and students to a thriving educational community.

Boyd was also a respected civic and faith leader, dedicating his life to strengthening both education and community institutions.

More than a century later, his commitment to building institutions that uplift and serve others continues through his family. His great-granddaughter, the Founder and Visionary of Lesanto’s Healing Hands Learning Facility INC, carries forward that legacy by creating a place where children and families can learn, grow, and thrive.

the legacy of education continues.

💔 They tried to steal our joy… but they won’t win.

Thieves came and stripped the wires and plumbing out of our center — but what they didn’t know is that you can’t steal purpose. You can’t steal faith. You can’t steal the vision that God placed in our hearts.

We are building a sanctuary for children — a safe haven where love, healing, and learning meet.
We will keep going.
We will rebuild.
We will rise stronger than before.

Every child who walks through our doors will be touched spiritually, nurtured deeply, and reminded that goodness still exists in this world.

No weapon formed against us shall prosper. 🙏🏽✨

✨ Reflection from the Heart ✨

Tonight I read a story that stopped me in my tracks. It was about kids… kids who’ve lost sight of kindness, respect, and the value of another life. Kids who think pulling a gun or hurting someone else is a solution — when in reality, it’s a cry for help that went unheard for too long.

I’ve never had to face that kind of heartbreak with my own children, but as a mother and community leader, my soul aches for every child who feels unseen, unheard, or bullied because they don’t have what others have. No child deserves to carry that kind of pain or pressure.

That’s why I do what I do — why we do what we do.
At Lesanto’s Healing Hands Learning Facility INC, we’re building more than a center; we’re creating a sanctuary where children are reminded of their worth, their light, and their purpose — no matter what they have or don’t have.

If we can teach love early, maybe we can stop violence before it ever begins. 💛

It is with deep sadness that we share that our center has experienced another break-in. Despite our efforts and ongoing repairs, our alarm system failed us once again.

This setback has forced us to delay our opening — something that truly breaks our hearts. Our dream has always been to create a safe, loving sanctuary for children with disabilities and families who need care, support, and hope. Each time we take a step forward, challenges like this remind us how much protection and community we still need.

We’re staying strong in our mission. We believe that with faith, resilience, and the continued support of our community, we will rise again.

This building once sat quiet on Redman Road.
Today, it’s becoming something powerful — a home where children with disabilities can learn, heal, and thrive, and where families finally feel seen, supported, and never forgotten.

For a year, we’ve worked by faith — clearing, cleaning, rebuilding, and believing.
Now, we’re working to secure permanent ownership of our school building so it can never be taken away from the children it’s meant for.
