Art Maines, LCSW

Art Maines, LCSW The official page for the psychotherapy, counseling, and training delivery practice of Art Maines, LCSW, Welcome to my page! Louis.

I hope you find clear and helpful information, encouragement, and maybe even a little inspiration along the way. I provide counseling and psychotherapy for teens through seniors for a range of life's challenges. In addition, I am very active as a trainer for behavioral health companies, conducting trainings on topics such as resilience, communication, and problem solving for governments, universities, and corporations. I am the author of the book Scammed: 3 Steps to Help Your Elder Parents and Yourself, and I have spoken over 100 times to audiences of seniors, their families, and professionals in the US and Canada. I am also the co-host of the popular podcast The Scammercast, sponsored by Western Union. As for all the official stuff, I am an alumnus of Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi and the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and have additional training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, emotionally focused couples therapy, and several other areas. I approach my work with a hopeful and pragmatic curiosity and willingness to walk with clients through the tough places. I believe that psychotherapy must be rooted in the real world while being informed by solid research where possible, and common sense always. I usually suggest homework between sessions because that extends the process and likelihood of positive change beyond just the therapy hour. I also create personalized recordings for clients in session to help with relaxation and skill acquisition (additional fee). I am a provider for most insurance companies, but be sure to call the office for specifics. Beyond the standard therapy hour, and in order to improve the productivity of the work, I offer 3 hour Focus Sessions for couples and individuals who are interested in the benefits of a longer time together. Many people find these especially helpful for moving things along more quickly in their therapeutic goal attainment. Message me or call my office for more information about Focus Sessions. On this page I share my own content and curate articles and resources I believe will be helpful, informative, and inspiring for a variety of people. Thank you for visiting and please leave a comment and tell a friend.
