💡 Did you know?

Even after completing 6 weeks of residential opioid detox, 94% of patients reported at least one relapse:

📅 27% relapsed the same day
🗓️ 65% relapsed within a month
📆 90% relapsed within a year

🚫 These numbers show that detox alone is not enough — long-term recovery requires continued treatment and support.

💉 That’s why once-monthly Vivitrol® (naltrexone) injections can make a major difference. According to the U.S. Surgeon General:

“...a person who undergoes medical withdrawal should be offered injectable naltrexone (Vivitrol).”

And the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) states:

“Vivitrol treatment should always be considered to reduce the likelihood of return to use after medically supervised withdrawal is completed.”

🌟 At INSynergy, we combine medication-assisted treatment like Vivitrol with behavioral therapy and ongoing recovery support — helping patients break the cycle of relapse and build lasting recovery.

📊 Did You Know?

An analysis of data from 877 patients with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) found that about 65% may relapse within one year after outpatient treatment.

As many already know from experience, the longer someone stays in remission, the lower their risk of returning to heavy drinking. Research shows that patients gain greater recovery stability after 1, 3, and 5+ years of sobriety.

At INSynergy, we understand that recovery is a journey—one that often benefits from ongoing support and evidence-based treatment options. Vivitrol®, a once-a-month injectable medication, has been shown to help individuals with Alcohol Use Disorder by significantly reducing heavy-drinking days and supporting long-term goals of sobriety.

If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol use, there is help—and there is hope. 💙

🇺🇸 Remembering 9/11 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who rose, and the families forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001. This day reminds us of the incredible resilience of the human spirit—but also of the invisible scars many still carry.

Trauma, grief, and stress can leave lasting impacts. For some, these experiences may lead to struggles with depression, anxiety, or substance use. At INSynergy, we believe healing is possible with the right care, support, and treatment.

Just as our nation came together to rebuild, individuals too can find recovery and hope. No one should carry these burdens alone.

💙 If you or someone you love is struggling, reach out. Healing begins with one step.

✨ Why Transitioning to MAT After Detox Is Critical ✨

🔬 What the Science Tells Us

🧠 Dramatic Loss of Tolerance After Detox
After detox, opioid receptors become extra sensitive. Within just a week, tolerance—especially to breathing suppression—can disappear. That means a dose that felt “normal” before detox can now be fatal. ⚠️

🚫 Detox Alone Isn’t Protective
Studies show that people who finish detox but don’t continue treatment—especially with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)—have a much higher risk of relapse and overdose within the first year. 📉

💊 Medication-Based Treatment Saves Lives
Research led by Yale and others found that abstinence-only programs (without medications like buprenorphine, naltrexone, or methadone) do no better—and sometimes worse—than no treatment at all. ✅ MAT reduces cravings, stabilizes recovery, and lowers the risk of death.

⚡ Relapse Often Comes With Fatal Consequences
Because tolerance is lost so quickly, relapse after detox often leads to overdose. This is one of the riskiest times for people in recovery. 💔

🌟 Takeaway: Detox is just the first step. Transitioning to MAT provides protection, stability, and hope for long-term recovery. 💙

🚨 Why Detox Alone Isn’t Enough: The Hidden Danger After Opioid Withdrawal

Many people believe that completing detox from opioids means they are “done” with treatment. Unfortunately, this can create a false sense of security—and sometimes deadly consequences.

When a person stops using opioids, their **opioid receptors become hypersensitive** as the brain and body struggle to adjust without the drug. This is why withdrawal symptoms can feel so intense. But here’s the critical part: after detox, **tolerance to opioids drops dramatically**.

👉 This means that if someone relapses and uses the same amount of opioids they were used to before detox, their body can’t handle it. The result is a **much higher risk of overdose**, often fatal.

This is why the **transition to Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT)**—using treatments like buprenorphine, methadone, or extended-release naltrexone—is considered the gold standard of care.

MAT helps:

***Stabilize opioid receptors** so cravings and withdrawal symptoms are reduced.
***Lower relapse risk** by providing a protective “bridge” during early recovery.
***Protect against overdose**, especially in the vulnerable period after detox.

💡 **Detox is only the first step**. True recovery requires ongoing treatment and support. Without MAT or another structured recovery plan, the period right after detox is one of the **riskiest times for overdose and death**.

If you or someone you love is considering detox, talk to a medical provider about how to safely **transition into MAT**. Recovery is possible—and it can be life-saving when done the right way.

🚨 New Kratom Concern: 7-Hydroxy 🚨

We are seeing more people in St. Louis struggling with a newer, more potent form of kratom called 7-hydroxy. While kratom is often marketed as “natural” or “safe,” this version can act very much like an opioid, leading to dependence and withdrawal symptoms similar to those from prescription painkillers or he**in.

At INSynergy, we’ve noticed an increase in individuals seeking help for kratom-related problems, including detoxification and management of opioid-like withdrawals. If you or someone you love is struggling with kratom or opioid use, know that recovery is possible — and you don’t have to go through it alone.

💙 We’re here to help. Call us at (314) 649-7867 (STOP) or visit INSynergystl.com to learn more about safe, effective, and confidential treatment options.
