We love seeing the lab team featured in the news and raising awareness! Dr. Wilfley recently spoke to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch about weight loss in a story on one of the first teens to undergo bariatric surgery in St. Louis. Wilfley emphasized that weight loss surgery is only part of the bigger picture in obesity treatment. She says that “the key to curbing childhood obesity rates is prevention or early intervention”. Dr. Wilfley is hopeful that Missouri Medicaid will respond to a proposal she worked on and begin covering prevention and early intervention programs. Check out the whole article!
