MODIFICATIONS are your FRIEND!!
there are many times i see us trying to force ourselves into positions that don’t work well for our body.
this is counterproductive & it makes you susceptible to injury.
it’s okay to adjust in order to make the pose a better fit for you. there’s no shame in that. i often do it myself.
here are three poses that i commonly notice don’t work as well for stiffer bodies (MEN, this is for you especially!):
- instead of the prone Pigeon Pose, lie on your back & do Figure 4. you can also keep your foot resting on the ground if you need to. you don’t have to pull the knee in towards your chest if that doesn’t work for your body.
- if you find Forward Fold tricky, simply bend your knees. you can still get a hamstring stretch & it’ll get up into your back too.
- if Child’s Pose is uncomfortable, opt for upside down Child’s Pose, by simply laying on your back & pulling your knees in towards your chest.
i hope this helps!
