Winter Weather is here! If you need to be on the road during winter weather, keep these safety reminders in mind!

Avoid travel when possible during severe snow and ice. Check your vehicle’s tailpipe after snowfall to make sure it isn’t blocked, as a clogged tailpipe can lead to dangerous carbon monoxide buildup inside the car. Remove bulky coats before buckling children into a harnessed car seat. Heavy winter layers can prevent the harness from fitting snugly and safely.

Stay safe and give yourself extra time if you must travel.

As temperatures drop and snow moves in this weekend, keep your home and family safe! Check carbon monoxide detectors, never use a generator indoors, and keep idling vehicles out of enclosed spaces. Give space heaters plenty of room, keeping kids and pets away, and ensure babies sleep in a clutter‑free crib with a sleep sack for warmth.

Keep an eye out for urgent care and primary care office closures in severe winter weather and know where your nearest SSM Health Emergency Room is, and remember to always call 911 in an emergency.

We are pleased to share that we have signed an agreement with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) to protect our patients’ in-network access to SSM Health.

This agreement means patients with commercial (employer-sponsored) and Medicaid UnitedHealthcare plans can continue receiving care from the SSM Health doctors and hospitals they know and trust without disruption at in-network rates.

Patients who have delayed or canceled appointments should reschedule using MyChart or by calling their provider’s office.
