Last week, volunteers from our corporate partner, Edward Jones and board member Ed Devault, assembled family meal kits for patients and families in need. 💙

As a safety net hospital for the City of St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital cares for hundreds of thousands of patients each year, including many screened as food insecure. Each kit provides ingredients and simple recipes to prepare approximately 15 meals at home, helping remove barriers to healthy food access and connect families to longer-term support.

Thank you to Edward Jones for investing time and heart into our community!

A “shockingly unique” program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is earning national attention for supporting moms hospitalized during high-risk pregnancies.

Through Arts + Healthcare, patients in the antepartum unit gather each week to create, connect and share their stories, building community during weeks or even months away from home.

Supported by gifts to The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Arts + Healthcare embeds music, poetry and visual art into care, helping patients and families find strength and renewal when they need it most.

Our Story

As part of the 1996 merger of Barnes Hospital and Jewish Hospital, The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital was born, carrying forward a rich history of philanthropy from both institutions.

Over time, much has changed at the Foundation. In 2011, its original name—the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation—became The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The board of directors also has evolved. Once required to have 20 board members each from the former Barnes and Jewish Hospitals, it now represents a cross-section of the broader community.

Many other aspects of hospital life, such as medical technology and health care options, have also changed dramatically. But one focus remains the same. Barnes and Jewish Hospital were founded, through generous donations, to provide medical care to patients of any religion or economic background—and today, Barnes-Jewish Hospital continues to offer the same broad-based care, thanks to the continued generosity of the community.
