Medication routines can become complicated over time — especially for older adults or anyone living with chronic health conditions. When multiple doctors, new prescriptions, or health changes are involved, medication lists may no longer match what someone is actually taking. This can increase the risk of side effects, interactions, and even hospital visits.

We recently wrote a blog about the importance of doing regular medication reviews (sometimes called a medication reset or medication management) and how Care Management and In-Home Support can help keep medications organized, safe, and up to date.

As part of our private care management program, we provide medication review and medication set-up, including organizing weekly pillboxes and monitoring for changes, which can be especially helpful for individuals with complex health needs.

I am truly honored to share some meaningful news.

I’ve been appointed to the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, where I will have the opportunity to support, advocate for, and help guide important decisions that impact older adults and individuals with disabilities in our city.

Serving others has always been at the heart of my work—whether as a Registered Nurse, Advanced Aging Life Care Manager, or through Care Solutions In-Home Services. For over 25 years, I’ve walked alongside families navigating complex health needs, worked to bridge gaps in our care systems, and advocated for those whose voices are too often unheard.

To now serve in this new capacity is both humbling and deeply meaningful.

I look forward to working collaboratively with city leaders, community partners, and fellow advocates to strengthen services, elevate dignity and independence, and ensure that all individuals aging in St. Louis are supported with compassion and respect.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and believed in this work. This appointment is not just an honor—it’s a responsibility I am grateful to carry.

Veterans Caring for Veterans – Local Caregiver Opportunity

Neighbors helping neighbors—who served our country.

Care Solutions In-Home Services is a local home care provider supporting veterans through the VA Community Care Network. We are currently seeking veterans and veteran-aligned caregivers who want to continue serving by caring for fellow veterans right here in our community.

Many veterans prefer caregivers who understand military culture, service-connected challenges, and the importance of dignity and respect. If you’ve served—or supported someone who has—your experience truly matters.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist veterans with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Provide safe transfers and mobility support (gait belts, Hoyer lifts – training provided)
- Offer medication reminders and observe/report changes in condition
- Support veterans with service-connected disabilities, chronic conditions, dementia, PTSD, or recovery after illness
- Prepare meals, assist with light housekeeping, and maintain a safe home environment
- Provide companionship, structure, and reassurance
- Document care using EVV/EHR systems in alignment with VA Community Care requirements
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance

Qualifications:
- Veterans strongly encouraged to apply (all branches welcome)
Caregiving, healthcare, or service-related experience preferred (training provided)
- Clean background check and drug screen
- Reliable transportation
- CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Commitment to respectful, veteran-centered care
