COVID-19 RESPONSE_FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Keeping our members, their loved ones and our staff safe is always our top priority and we are taking significant steps to continue to serve our members in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic following guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), health care officials, as well as our own Chief Medical Officer. We are fully committed to assisting the public health authorities stem the spread of the pandemic while ensuring the continuity of our care, treatment and services. Sana Lake remains open and operational with appropriate measures to protect the health of the community.
Some of these steps are:
• Ramped up cleaning efforts. We have increased the frequency and intensity of cleaning throughout the day and night, with sanitizing solutions used in high-touch, high-traffic areas. Linens are being laundered more frequently and high-quality soaps are available in private member and public restrooms.
• Immediately replace on site family and other loved ones’ visitations with internet video technology tools for family programming and family visitations. We believe it is important the family and loved ones engage in their own recovery alongside the member and with internet video technology, connections with our therapists and counselors is the best means to continue to provide the safest programming possible. Details of how to log in will be sent to you under separate correspondence. For the families that registered to attend visitation, we are setting up scheduled times for the family and member to speak on video conference calls. The families registered for programming this week will have priority and other members will have the opportunity thereafter.
• Maintain continuing care for members using internet video technology tools. In times of stress as the community has dealing with this pandemic, it is even more important that continuing care, individual therapy and clinical work continue for our members and families. Therefore, our medical staff, therapists and counselors are being equipped with technology to provide continuing services through telemedicine.
• Staff are screened for fever upon attending work. We’ve asked staff who aren’t feeling well to refrain from coming in. We are implementing a new policy that provides extra flexibility to stay home, as well as pay options and support if they are affected by the virus.
Our staff is passionate about helping our members find recovery for life and are doing amazing work with them. Our ownership and management are doing their best they can to support our staff so they may continue their awesome work in these challenging times.
Rest assured, we will continue to do everything in our power to provide a safe and healthy environment for our members, their loved ones and our staff. As we face this challenge, we will learn what more can be done to do even better than we are today. Any help and suggestions are appreciated.
Sincerely,
Paul D. Melnuk
