Suicide is a national health problem that takes an enormous toll on family, friends, co-workers, and the entire community. AFSP provides opportunities for survivors of suicide loss to get involved through a wide variety of educational, outreach, and awareness efforts. AFSP’s growing network of more than 50 local chapters nationwide join together those who have lost someone to suicide, individuals with mental disorders and their families, mental health professionals, community and business leaders, and others interested in preventing suicide. Our chapter volunteers deliver innovative prevention programs to schools and businesses, reach out to survivors of suicide loss, organize fundraising events, and act as a go-to resource for their entire community. They are at the forefront of increasing the public’s awareness of suicide as a public health issue that is preventable. Please join us today to help build a world without suicide.

Whatever your “”why”” is, you have a place to advocate at Advocacy Action Days. 💙

Each year between January and May, AFSP chapters host Advocacy Action Days in state capitals across the country. These powerful and inspiring events bring advocates and state lawmakers together to talk about how we can and must work together to prevent su***de.

As an AFSP advocate, your voice has once again made a powerful impact. 💙📣

On February 3rd, the President signed the Fiscal Year 2026 federal funding bill, which includes strong investments in su***de prevention and mental health programs, many of which match AFSP’s requests.

Before final passage, AFSP priorities within the FY26 funding bill received significant bipartisan support from members in both chambers of Congress. To show our appreciation, it's important that lawmakers hear our thanks for supporting these critical programs.

This is NOT okay. Not now. Not ever.

Programs have already been shut down. The harm is already happening in our communities—and it will continue to happen every single day until these decisions are reversed. Lives are being put at risk. Silence is not an option.

It cannot stress this enough: this is unacceptable.

We need action right now. Please email or call your legislators in DC.
You can register as a field advocate through American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP). They provide templates, email addresses, and guidance. It takes 10 seconds to send an email that can help save lives.
Register here: https://afsp.org/public-policy-advocate/ and then head to the Action Center.

Learn how to recognize warning signs and how to support someone in a mental health crisis or someone impacted by su***de. Trainings are available—and they save lives. Need help finding one? Visit https://afsp.org/chapter/missouri

Please share this. Share it widely. Tag people. Send it to friends, family, coworkers. Encourage everyone you know to speak up against these unimaginably harmful cuts. Collective voices matter.

And always remember: 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7/365.

You matter. Your life matters. And our communities are worth fighting for.
