In DBT, we recognize that we move through different states of mind: Doing Mind, Being Mind, and Wise Mind.
Doing Mind is goal-oriented—great for getting things done like homework, bills, or job applications. But too much can lead to burnout and missing the joy of accomplishment.
Being Mind is about simply being—fully present and aware, noticing small joys, and allowing rest. However, staying here too long can lead to inaction or neglecting responsibilities.
Wise Mind is the balanced integration of both. It’s being present while still moving toward your goals—knowing when to act and when to pause. It’s mindful, flexible living.
Need help achieving this balance? We'd be happy to help! Reach out to us today at stldbt.com
