If you’re struggling with tight calves or nagging tension in your feet, you might be missing a crucial step. In Part 2 of our Foot & Ankle series, our Stretch Techs demonstrate why we release before we lengthen.

By using myofascial release on the foot, shin, and calf BEFORE the stretch, we create real, lasting change in your mobility—not just a quick fix.

Did you know your calves might be the reason your lower body feels tight? 🦴💥

Tight calves do more than just feel stiff—they limit your ankle mobility and can throw off your stride, your squat, and even your balance. From foam rolling to dynamic movements like downward dog, prioritizing your calf health is key to smoother movement and less strain on your knees and hips. 🏃‍♀️✨

Using a lacrosse ball under your foot is a total game-changer for improving tissue quality and circulation in the plantar fascia. Pair that with some ankle dorsiflexion drills, and you’ll be moving smoother than ever. 🔓✨

Precision matters. 🎯

Hip flexors are one of the most important—and most difficult—muscle groups to stretch safely on your own. At Stretch U, our Stretch Techs position the pelvis to protect your low back before gradually guiding the leg into extension. This ensures you feel the relief where you need it most (the front of the hip) without any unwanted compression in the spine. 🌬️✨

If this feels intense, you probably need it! 🧘‍♀️✨

The Frogger is one of the most effective ways to open the inner thighs and hips. By keeping your knees wide and ankles in line while gently shifting back, you can deep-dive into those stubborn tension spots. Remember to focus on slow, controlled breaths to let the hips open gradually without stressing your lower back. 🔓💨

Adductors—the muscle group no one stretches, but everyone should! 🧐✨

Your adductors are your inner thigh muscles, and when they’re tight, they can limit your hip mobility and even contribute to that stubborn lower back tension. In this session, our Stretch Techs stabilize the pelvis and gently open the leg to target the inner thigh without stressing the knee. Experience a new range of motion safely with professional assisted stretching! 🏃‍♂️💨

Most "back pain" isn't actually a back problem—it’s a hip mobility problem. In today’s feature, Stretch Tech Tim breaks down the Hip Airplane. This move is a game-changer for stabilizing the hips and decompressing the lower spine.

By rotating through the hip joint rather than the waist, you're training your glutes to support your movement properly.

Are you up for the challenge? 👊 This one’s a little more advanced, but your hips will thank you!

The hip is a ball-and-socket joint, which means it’s built to move in a full circle. Our Hip Clock drill focuses on controlled rotation to help your brain feel safe accessing new ranges of motion. Remember: move slowly, demonstrate control, and only go as far as your body allows! 🔓✨

Tight hips from sitting all day? 👩‍💻 This one is for you.

Seated Pigeon is a simple but incredibly effective way to target the glutes and deep hip rotators. Keep your spine long, hinge forward at the hips, and let the tension melt away naturally. Better hip mobility means better posture and smoother movement all day long! 🔓✨

Professional Stretching & Cryotherapy

Our stretch therapies are provided to people of all ages and abilities, and are categorized as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching, myofascial release (MFR), and a personalized combination of PNF and MFR stretching to reduce and eliminate specified areas of pain.

PNF Stretching

PNF stretching (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) enhances both active and passive range of motion in order to improve muscle performance. This form is considered an optimal stretching method when the aim is to increase range of motion. Our 20-minute session, The Carey Stretch, lengthens treated tissues to reduce the range of muscle pain, allowing for improved flexibility and muscle motion.
