Behind every milestone is a story worth telling, and ours begins with one remarkable woman. This week's Monday post goes back to where it all began, celebrating the founder whose dedication to children who are deaf and hard of hearing sparked a legacy that continues to this day. Explore fun facts and the key moments that have defined our first 30 years!
Meet Jean Sachar Moog. Jean's passion for helping children who are deaf and hard of hearing find their voice has shaped the field of deaf education for over 45 years. After earning her Master of Science in Speech and Hearing from Washington University in St. Louis, Jean went on to become an internationally renowned leader in listening and spoken language education. She developed 10 evaluation instruments used by educators, audiologists, and speech-language pathologists worldwide, authored dozens of publications, and traveled the globe to share her expertise through workshops and presentations. In 1996, she founded the Moog Center for Deaf Education in St. Louis and has since helped establish nine Certified Moog Programs across the United States and Argentina. Recognized with numerous awards throughout her career, including the Excellence in Education Award from the U.S. Department of Education, Jean's legacy is felt in every child who has walked through our doors.
