This week, we were honored to join Governor Mike Kehoe at the Missouri Farm Bureau to sign SB79! This bill is a meaningful step forward for hearing healthcare in Missouri. A portion of it includes critical coverage for hearing aids and cochlear implants for MO HealthNet participants, a change that will benefit so many across Missouri! Thank you, Governor Kehoe, for your leadership in making this happen, and thank you to Dr. Kate Sinks, Speech and Hearing Director; Cathy Brown, Executive Director; and Board Member Saulo Mendez for attending the signing.

The Center for Hearing and Speech Powered by Easterseals is excited to welcome two new providers!

Dr. Julia Stelmach, a licensed audiologist, specializes in cochlear implants, bone conduction devices, diagnostic testing, and hearing aids, bringing expertise and compassion to every patient interaction.

Joining her is Karissa Terry, our new Audiology Extern, who holds a B.S. in Audiology and Speech Language Sciences with minors in Special Education and American Sign Language. Karissa’s clinical interests include pediatrics, hearing technology, and auditory processing, and her personal experience with hearing loss makes her a passionate advocate for her patients.

This Saturday, we are hosting our Free Clinic Day at our Rock Hill office!

We love hosting this event every year, where we provide free vision, hearing, and speech screenings to our community members.

Speech, hearing, and vision screenings are available for children, while vision and hearing screenings for adults are available. Services are available by appointment only from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with results available on-the-spot and consultation for next steps as needed.
