We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the school staff, students, and families for the incredible love and support shown for our sweet boy by having everyone wear Bluey/ blue to show our boy so much love. This thoughtful gesture meant more to our family than words can fully express. During such a difficult time, seeing everyone come together in kindness and solidarity brought us comfort, encouragement, and so much joy. Your compassion has reminded us that we are not facing this journey alone, and we are deeply grateful to be part of such a caring community. Thank you for lifting our spirits and surrounding our child with so much love.
They sent us some pictures of everyone and it brought tears to our eyes. (I am not going to share those for privacy reason). Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 💙

No really new update, which most of the time is a good thing!!

Reed is remaining stable! Still breathing better with the dialysis taking fluid off of him. We are not sure how long he will need the dialysis.
We are still just all trying to keep him as comfortable as possible.

We are so proud of our boy for fighting so dang hard.
This is not just his fight. We are are standing right with him fighting for him!

Thank you all for the prayers, we are so lucky.
Hoping the next big step is extubation!

The dialysis is doing exactly what we need it to be doing. Reed is breathing so much better and has been able to be weaned a tiny bit on the vent because the fluid being moved out of him. His kidneys are getting the time to recover that they need. He still is very positive in fluid so they will keep the dialysis for a few more days at least.
He is improving that is what matters! ❤️

This boy has beat every odd.
He is so strong. He has been through so much. He doesn’t deserve this. Thank God he is strong but he shouldn’t have to be.
No kid should have to be this brave. Fighting battles he never asked for.
As much as I wish I could take it all away I can’t. But I can promise him
I will fight for him. I will be his voice. His protector and safe place.
This is all so exhausting, we are all tired.
We miss home. We miss the Reed we once had and are fighting to get back there! 🤍
Thank you everyone for the prayers, we are having much better days and can only pray for him to keep improving.

please please say some extra prayers. Reed has gotten progressively worse. He has too much fluid that is affecting his lungs. He is on very high vent settings and still struggling. They are placing a line and starting dialysis as soon as possible this morning.

Now today they are saying they can’t go as quick as they were hoping. They had to go up on his vent setting because he’s not ready. His chest X-ray looked worse and the back of his lungs are barely moving air. They can’t push the fluid off because his kidneys are too hurt. So now we have to give the kidneys time to recover. If he doesn’t move more air in the lungs tonight they will have to put him on his belly tomorrow and that means way more sedation and a paralyzing drug. :(
As soon as we think he is improving things start to back track.
Still have not found a source of the pneumonia.
We are just taking things day by day and praying he starts moving the right direction again. They were very honest with us today that even after he gets the breathing tube removed he has a very long road of recovery ahead.
We just want them to continue doing what’s best for Reed and keep him comfortable while doing so. ❤️

Thank you all for praying and thinking of our baby, we appreciate you all.

Reed has stayed about the same.
Today he got a really low fever and they were worried his body was getting too cold. Immunocompromised kids just show fever a little differently sometimes.

His kidneys are still damaged from the fluid overload from transplant so with him being so critically ill they are taking a huge hit. He is not making much urine so they are trying to figure out what we need to do. It’s the balance of getting fluid off the lungs but not pushing the kidneys much further.
We still have no answers as to why all of this is happening or what’s to come. We are just praying he starts improving. He is very very sick. Hopefully the next few days will give us some answers.
Thank you all for the prayers!

This is not at all why I created this page but I have had some people ask how they can help! Please continue sharing his page so we can share Reed’s story, I try to update as I can!
And if you are able and feel led, please consider supporting our family monetarily or with gift cards. We have been uprooted from our home since January making sure Reed gets the best possible care and he still has a long journey to go with no paycheck!
Thank you everyone who has helped and prayed for our family, it means so much to us. I never could have imagined the support group and prayers we have received from starting this page.

Reed will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant in February that will require Cayley, Anthony, and Lilah to remain local to the hospital for a minimum of 100 days post transplant. Due to this, there are obvious expenses that will need to be met while they are tending to Reed’s needs! Let’s help...

Definitely not the update we were wanting😭

Reed had to be intubated and put back on the breathing tube early this morning. His lungs are very sick, his little body was working way too hard and it became unsafe to continue. So for now he is fully relying on the ventilator and we are just hoping and praying his body can rest and heal. They are working on figuring out what was the cause of his pneumonia so that can try to target the infection. They started a few antibiotics to try to help him but his lungs are very irritated and full of fluid.
As hard as it is for us to see him intubated it’s what his body needs right now. He was exhausted from working so hard to breath. He is now comfortable 😞

This is so unfair, words can’t describe how I feel right now. Reed doesn’t deserve all of this. Why him, why us? We were supposed to get discharged today. I’m exhausted mentally and physically and feel so helpless.
But all we can do is remain hopeful and pray for healing.

Today was a really hard day and we are back in the ICU.

Reed had been doing so good. The plan was to be discharged tomorrow. This morning he started needing more support and was having trouble keeping his oxygen up. Through out the day he just kept getting worse and tonight a rapid response was called and he was transferred back to the ICU.

He got a CT scan and he has multifocal pneumonia which very much explains the breathing issues that quickly started. It is likely because he has been throwing up and has aspirated.

This has been so hard and we are just praying he stays extubated. Right now he is just getting more support from a mouth and nasal Bi-Pap.

This is hard every single time but after his last rapid response and PICU stay we are so scared and heartbroken.

Please pray he gets better fast and things do not get worse 💔
