Dr. Andrew Haas performed a new technique for arthroscopic acromioclavicular shoulder reconstruction in Stamford on February 1st at Stamford Hospital. The ac joint is often injured and seperated in athletes from a direct blow to the shoulder. The main stabilizing ligament can be torn leading to significant and partial displacement and deformity. The traditional operation is via an open incision. The new technique has enabled reconstruction of the ac joint via a small minimally invasive arthroscopic portal with a suture and graft construct that recreates the torn ligament. This procedure allows reconstruction with less discomfort
