At Big Leaps, we provide high quality physical and occupational therapy for children ages birth to 18. We love what we do and make therapy fun!

Our mission is to create a fun, supporting, and safe therapeutic environment, to help children reach their maximum potential for functional independence and motor development.

Using the platform swing to make speech fun. Toys aren’t always necessary- finding what motivates a child opens the door to the best communication opportunities.

While swinging, it’s easy to sneak in language fun by pausing to let the kiddo fill in words and modeling multi-word phrases 🙌

Obstacle course fun ⭐️

This kiddo had to weight bear through both hands to push the scooter board in between the bolsters to then army crawl through the “secret” tunnel to then work on his balance with our hop scotch mat.

This obstacle course worked on improving overall strength, coordination, motor planning, attention to task and balance 💪🏼

Want to boost your little one’s communication during play? Try not giving all the toys at once. When we hold a few items back, we create natural moments for requesting (“more,” “help,” “want ___”), joint attention, turn-taking, problem-solving, and modeling meaningful vocabulary. Small tweaks in how toys are offered can make a big difference in language development 🗣️
