Life as we know it on Earth would not possible without plants. Plants are the primary conduit for the flow of energy from the sun into living organisms and constitute more than 90 percent of the planet's biomass. Plants are the source of our food, provide us shelter, shape our environment and supply us with many medications. Understanding the basic mechanisms of plant life provides a foundation for solving problems in the fields of agriculture, ecology, and medicine, as well as for developing practices that enable global sustainability.

DPB's Summer 2019 Intern Program was a smashing success! On Friday 8/9 all the interns gathered together to talk about their hard work and projects for the summer. They showed off their detailed results with their beautiful posters and proudly stood by as faculty, post docs, and family came to learn. We followed it with an outdoor bbq and our own in-house Carnegie band. Many thanks to all who made this event happen!
